So maybe a week ago [livejournal.com profile] captaincatapult came up with this lovely litte meme thing that went like this:

Think of your favorite celebrity, the one who makes music sound better, movies and television brighter, the one you'd dash to the ends of the earth for if it meant you could save yourself from ever having to go a second without their magic. Then post your favorite 15ish photos of him/her! Your favorites of your favorite!

DELIGHTFUL, RIGHT???? The problem is I am not sure I have a celebrity like that. I have pervasive fondnesses for a long list of people, where I sort of smile when their name pops up (BY THE WAY, why didn't I know unti this week that Kate Mulgrew was in Equus with Danrad in NYC??? God, now I want to goooooooooo) but I don't think there's a single celebrity who could draw me to a movie theater with their name alone (although, tbf, I AM SO BAD AT SEEING MOVIES? The year is almost over and I'm pretty sure I've only seen four films in theaters), whose photo repretoire I know by heart (except I am actually inimately familiar with Rachel Bilson pictures??? I... don't even know.). I tend to obsess over my characters, and having a nice, funny actor who plays them is more icing than cake for me.

EXCEPT THEN I REMEMBERED !

I am going to stare at her pretty, smiling face for awhile and pretend her life was actually as nice as it looks in these photos.

I'm actually kind of glad Thanksgiving break is over, everyone I like from college went home and no one I like came home. I meant to do so much, though, and I did... pretty much none of it. STORY OF MY LIFE. I did discover the best yogurt brand at Whole Foods, though, it's called Rachel's and apparently it's British and they make flavors like Peach Green Tea and Berry Jasmine and Pink Grapefruit Lychee. YUM. And apparently Bones is moving to Thursdays in the spring, BLERG, of course they'd do that after Pushing Daisies is gone.

BUT I'M PRETTY SURE I DIDN'T SPRAIN MY KNEE? *\o/*?

Oh and happy birthday to both [livejournal.com profile] thecolorbetween and [livejournal.com profile] ofadoration! YOU TWOOOO. I'm almost too late as always, but I hope you had lovely days.

I'm starting to think you just haven't seen enough musicals to fully know whether or not you actually totally hate them? YOU KNOW? Hating Chicago and Moulin Rouge is a valid lifestyle choice, but OH MY GOD, THE OLD MGM MUSICALS???? There is nothing better, YOU SHOULD TRY A COUPLE.

Go for On the Town and Meet Me In St. Louis! (Have you seen the classics, other than Wizard of Oz? Singing in the Rain, an American in Paris, the Band Wagon?)

The thing you were saying last night-- about how you like HSM because the whole thing is cheesy and lame-- a loooooooooooooot of MGM musicals are like that. Most of them (not as much the ones I recc'd, though) are really flimsily plotted excuses for huge song and dance spectacles? IT'S PRETTY AWESOME, I'M NOT GOING TO LIE.

I haven't seen any of those! Just the Wizard of Oz. I'll see if we have any of them in our movie closet and if not I'll find a way. :D JSYK though, if they are awkward I will turn them off, I HATE AWKWARDNESS. Especially awkward singing.

Also I think I might do this meme, and you picking Judy Garland reminded me of my intense childhood love for Shirley Temple, so.

Shirley Temple's in one of the pictures I picked, did you see?!

Awkward in what way? There are a couple of things that happen to Gene Kelly that miiiiiiiiiiiiiight be construed that way (he gets dumped, and then there's a police chase scene, and some ~Arabian cross-dressing~) if you have like, a ridiculously low tolerance, but I have a pretty hard time dealing with awkwardness too and they don't bother me at all.

I didn't originally but I scrolled back up and awwww!!!! :D I LOVE HER. I especially love that she managed to have a successful happy marriage and become an ambassador to Africa instead of crashing and burning like almost every other child star at the time. Or in general.

IDK just to me bursting out into song is generally awkward unless I can laugh at it. WE SHALL SEE HOW THIS GOES. I will probably like at least some of the movies though because I do like Shirley Temple movies and they all have singing, and I like The Wizard of Oz a whole lot.
