So maybe a week ago [livejournal.com profile] captaincatapult came up with this lovely litte meme thing that went like this:

Think of your favorite celebrity, the one who makes music sound better, movies and television brighter, the one you'd dash to the ends of the earth for if it meant you could save yourself from ever having to go a second without their magic. Then post your favorite 15ish photos of him/her! Your favorites of your favorite!

DELIGHTFUL, RIGHT???? The problem is I am not sure I have a celebrity like that. I have pervasive fondnesses for a long list of people, where I sort of smile when their name pops up (BY THE WAY, why didn't I know unti this week that Kate Mulgrew was in Equus with Danrad in NYC??? God, now I want to goooooooooo) but I don't think there's a single celebrity who could draw me to a movie theater with their name alone (although, tbf, I AM SO BAD AT SEEING MOVIES? The year is almost over and I'm pretty sure I've only seen four films in theaters), whose photo repretoire I know by heart (except I am actually inimately familiar with Rachel Bilson pictures??? I... don't even know.). I tend to obsess over my characters, and having a nice, funny actor who plays them is more icing than cake for me.

EXCEPT THEN I REMEMBERED !

I am going to stare at her pretty, smiling face for awhile and pretend her life was actually as nice as it looks in these photos.

I'm actually kind of glad Thanksgiving break is over, everyone I like from college went home and no one I like came home. I meant to do so much, though, and I did... pretty much none of it. STORY OF MY LIFE. I did discover the best yogurt brand at Whole Foods, though, it's called Rachel's and apparently it's British and they make flavors like Peach Green Tea and Berry Jasmine and Pink Grapefruit Lychee. YUM. And apparently Bones is moving to Thursdays in the spring, BLERG, of course they'd do that after Pushing Daisies is gone.

BUT I'M PRETTY SURE I DIDN'T SPRAIN MY KNEE? *\o/*?

Oh and happy birthday to both [livejournal.com profile] thecolorbetween and [livejournal.com profile] ofadoration! YOU TWOOOO. I'm almost too late as always, but I hope you had lovely days.

BY THE WAY, KATE MULGREW WAS AWESOME IN EQUUS :DDDDD

Oh Judy. She is so lovely it is ridiculous. I'm trying to think of a celebrity I love that much. Hm.

LOL BOASTING :(

ISN'T IT WEIRDLY HARD THOUGH? This was almost the "pretty blonde girls I kind of like on TV" picspam because I couldn't think of someone I liked more. EXCEPT THEN, OF COURSE, JUDY.

Aw, I love her. But I am such a giant fail when it comes to old Hollywood, I've only seen a couple of old movies and I don't know very much about it. BUT I LIKE JUDY GARLAND A LOT AND I LIKE THE GRAND TOTAL OF TWO SONGS I HAVE BY HER TOO.

These pictures! I love all of them - but especially the ones with Mickey Rooney and Gene Kelly, they seriously don't make movie stars like that anymore. Love love love.

Aren't she and Mickey daaaaaaarling? He's actually kind of a homophobic, sexaholic twat (I will never ever understand the fact that he got Ava Gardner in the first place, let alone that she divorced him for philandering? whaaaaaaaaat?) but they're just so FUN together, I cannot hate him.

Oh goodness, OLD FARTS. Ew I just called Judy Garland an old fart. She was sooooo lovely though, I enjoyed looking at these. I like that she is your Zac Efron equivalent, hahaha. I want to put everyone's person in the same room and see what happens.

IT'S FUNNY, but they're a loooooooooot the same if you think about it. Teen stars! Triple threats! Kind of funny-looking as kids but they both grew into it?

I knew every single word to The Wizard of Oz as like a 4 year old. Every.Single.Word. Scenes from the cross my mind ALL the time. I think it's been ingrained in my brain due to how many times I watched it as a kid. My mom said it was my "first movie." Awww.

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who was raised on her! SHE WAS MY HALLOWEEN COSTUME WHEN I WAS SIX, and she is definitely the only actress whose entire body of work I'm familiar with. THE WIZARD OF OZ IS SUCH A GOOD KID MOVIE.

This photo meme is the greatest in the history of all things great. JUDY GARLAND! Your love of the golden age of Hollywood makes me inexplicably happy. I think I'd choose Katherine Hepburn or Jimmy Stewart? BLERG, I'M SO OBVIOUS AND NOT AT ALL INTERESTING.

Thanksgiving break is always like that, and it sucks because I always tell myself I'll get ahead of things so I'm not utterly screwed in the push to finals BUT I NEVER DO. And I'm inevitably left reading 100+ pages a night and doing writing assignments hours before they're do and UGH, SCHOOL.

I CLEARLY NEED TO GO TO WHOLE FOODS IMMEDIATELY. Thanks for the rec, friend. Anything with lychee is made of DELICIOUS.

OH PLEASE, Katharine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart are TOTALLY not obvious and uninteresting. THEY ARE WONDERFUL. Obvious and uninteresting is Audrey Hepburn.

Yeah, it is always like this. AND IT ALWAYS GOES SO FAST? I had a whole week off and it's over and it feels like I was in school three days ago. Only a couple more weeks, though, I guess.

IT'S SUCH GOOD YOGURT, you will see! The only one I didn't love (that I tried) was Kiwi Passion Fruit Lime? And idk why I bought that one in the first place, kiwi is one of the few fruits I don't like that much.

OH MY GAH GENE KELLY. We watched Singing in the Rain in my Lit&Film class and I fell in love with that man omg. I really, really need to watch more of his movies. Maybe I'll make that my christmas break goal lol.

Also need to see more Garland films, since Wizard of Oz is it. We did watch a clip of her in class though! Our teacher forgot to tell us which movie it was from, but it was where she was singing You Made Me Love You to her pictures of Clark Gable. I LOLed :P

I think I might have two celebs that I could do this meme for. Oooh, three if I take it back old school like you did. I'll have to see what I can come up with :D

I LOVE HIM TOO, HIS AGILITY AND HIS BIG DAMN SMILE? Have you seen more than Singing in the Rain? IF NOT START WITH AMERICAN IN PARIS AND, um, On the Town. And For Me and My Gal. SOOOOOOOO GOOD.

I think that's from the Broadway Melody of 1940? (I might have the year wrong). She didn't star or anything, it was a ~medley~. I LOVE THAT SONG, THOUGH.

I CAN'T WAAAAAAAAAAIT TO SEE!

Thank yooou for the birthday wishes! Also, okay, so I'm irrationally glad I'm not the only person who is bad at seeing movies. I've seen exactly five in theatres this year. /o\

Judy Garland was so pretty! I've sadly only seen a couple of her movies (my dad is alllll about the golden age of Hollywood so I probably should have seen more, but I suck), but she is so lovely. And that picture with Gene Kelly! Whyyyyy don't they make them like that any more? :( That picture and the first are my favourites.

Of course! AND SERIOUSLY, two hours is neeeeeeever enough time with characters I like? Books and TV are so much more my style. And less expensive. And easier to keep up with.

Wasn't sheeeeee? She has such an interesting look about her. And honestly, the thing about her films is that only a few are true classics-- those are probably the ones you've seen-- she made a lot of really delightful ones that you have to like cheesy musicals a lot to truly enjoy. Every movie she's done with Mickey Rooney is pretty much EXACTLY THE SAME, storyline wise. But the musical numbers are AWESOME.
