Hello dead weekend livejournal! I have kind of invented a meme. Well, "invented" is probably a strong word, I'd be super surprised if something like this has never ever been done before. But it's a kind of um, experiment to see how much information we accidentally pick up from reading our friendslist, but that makes it sound lame, and I THINK IT WILL BE LULZY TOO.
ANYWAY: what I want you to do is name a show I don't watch (if you want me to list the things I do like I will, but I think most of you have a decent idea of what I'm into and if you don't it's pretty well outlined in my interests -- OH, except for Psych, that's... recent and I've now seen enough that it would be cheating) and I will try to describe it to you (looking things up is obviously cheating, it's a test to see what random things have been picked up).
I'm actually equally (almost more?) enthused about the idea of feeding people shows though, so if you're bored too you should totally play on your own.

(I SERIOUSLY HAVEN'T HEARD OF THAT EVER :( Is it a film? I know nothing about films. It kind of sounds like a fantasy bookseries too, though?)

This season apparently Dani has gotten hot in a bad way that is detrimental to her characterization and hooked up with some guy no one likes.

The second book may as well not exist for all I know about it.
In the third book Bella is torn between Edward and Jacob. I think both of them have been accused of in some way forcing themselves on her (idk if I mean emotionally or physically). There are a lot of shipping wars.
In the fourth book Edward and Bella get married, have sex and she gets pregnant and Edward has some self-loathing stuff because like... the baby is going to kill Bella or something? But I guess she becomes a vampire and that... saves her, I don't know. This dilutes the point of the books because the idea was that if she became a vampire, she would never be able to reproduce or live her life? But this way she gets both. Um, I think there's some kind of vampire and werewolf war that ends in an anticlimatic way and... they name the baby Renesmee. Jacob "imprints" on the infant, which is somehow icky and implies she's his soulmate or something?
THAT WAS KIND OF A LOT!

DOCTOR WHO.
no subject
The Doctor is an alien from some other planet who time travels in a telephone box for... some reason. He sheds his face and body sometimes for... reasons unknown to me, but what a clever way to keep an idea going without having to keep the same actors. For some reason he also picks companions, which... I think have always been female.
Anyway the most recent resurrection starts with Nine and Rose. I think there's something to do with a war...? They have a season and then Nine... goes and she ends up with Ten, which is apparently the epic half of the love story, although I thiiiiink there's something with Nine and Rose too. I might be wrong. Anyway they continue doing... whatever they do on Doctor Who until for some reason Rose leaves, and it is tragic, and Ten ends up with Martha. Who is ridiculously gorgeous and also in love with him, but he's torn up over rose? And then she leaves too and the next one is Donna, who... is some kind of bride? I might be making that part up? ANYWAY, that season ended with her memory getting wiped, Rose getting a doctor clone, and Martha being there. Also there is some guy who is the Master who fits in in some strange way. And then there is Jack, who spins off into Torchwood. Oh wait wasn't he a companion? I recind my earlier statement about all the companions being female.

You should watch it, incidentally, because EVERYBODY should!
Ummmk let's see. MY LOVER BOSTON LEGAL. Also I am TOTALLY DOING THIS RIGHT NOW, so you should come throw fandoms at me. Brilliant.

Huh, most of what I know about Boston Legal is the cast: there's William Shatner and Candice Bergen. And they have law cases! And in the end, William Shatner gets gay married to that dude whose face I CAN SO CLEARLY SEE but whose name I do not know. Well, it might be Denny Crane but I actually think that's the Shatner character.
AND OKAY I WILL.

Um, geez, though-- at some point in the ensuing seven seasons Buffy is torn between Angel and Spike, her sister starts figuring into things, Giles falls in love with a woman named Jenny who eventually dies, I'm sure Joss Whedon randomly kills other people off as he feels like it, Willow has a lesbian relationship and I think becomes a witch...? Also possibly evil?, everyone continues hunting down vampires and kicking ass, there is a musical episode which I keep meaning to watch, and there is great fandom dispute about which seasons are terrible and which seasons are wonderful. Three is supposed to be awesome, and five or six or seven is supposed to be the worst...?
That was desperately disjointed.

In Queer as Folk, Brian and Justin are really pretty (um, according to me, not what I've heard) and also in love. Brian is kind of a ~bad boy~ type. There's some interesting exploration of homophobia. Which I guess is par the course for a well-written show about gay men. I also think of this show as something you in particular hold very close to your heart, but... I guess that isn't really part of a summary.
I haven't heard anything about Billable Hours at all. But Merlin! Um, it's one of those Brit shows about the past (I say "one of those", but I think the only other current one is "Robin Hood"). It is pretty obviously based on Arthurian legend, and pretty much everyone loves Arthur/Merlin. The Guinevere character is some kind of servant in the castle, though, which has caused some kerfuffle in the fandom. Aaaaand there's Morgana.
You should!!!

Okay so there are two brothers. I think Sam went to college and was lucky enough to be engaged to my girlcrush ~Adrianne Palicki~? I DON'T KNOW, SHE FIGURES IN THERE SOMEWHERE. Anyway their dad is Jeffrey Dean Morgan and somehow he is the one who got them on this... demon hunting train. And so they go hunt demons. I guess. They drive all over the place in Dean's special car and listen to rockish music? AND...... yes. Now there are two girls, one of whom is named Ruby. Oh and there's a racist truck episode! And..... THAT IS WHAT I HAVE.
OKAY WAIT, don't girls perish in white nightgowns a lot? Also fussy X-Files people like to whine about how specific episodes get ripped off from XF a lot? They're probably just fussy.

2. There's a fraternity and a sorority! One of the guys has curly brown hair! They... go to college parties. Isn't someone gay? ALSO ANNA OSCEOLA GUEST STARS AT SOME POINT, and I love her for no reason.
3. I have seen the first season, so I don't think it counts.
4. OKAY SO A BUNCH OF KIDS LIVE IN ENGLAND AND... have sex and do drugs. One of the girls (Effy?) doesn't speak. Chris is apparently wonderful, as is Chris/Jal, but eventually he dies and everyone is upset. NOW IT'S FULL OF NEW PEOPLE?

I don't know what they do at Torchwood, but I figure it's got an edge of time travel??? And in the finale Tosh and Owen died tragically. ALSO MARTHA IS SOMEHOW INVOLVED. And fandom hates Gwen unreasonably.
