Lol, this show is so scripted. In a lot of ways their final episode didn't do much for me because of the contrivance of spending the entire date revisiting their earliest days, it all felt, I don't know, fed to them. They didn't remember all of those twists, but the PDs did: they had it on film. (Relatedly, they have this obtuse, roundabout way of giving each other gifts that is my LEAST FAVORITE THING, one of the MCs mentioned that Yonghwa "always does this", always has some trickery surrounding the way he gives gifts, but I don't think that's it, I seriously think it's like, false drama. But maybe I'm wrong, I haven't really wanted any other WGM couples, maybe they are normal about it.) (Back when I was in one of my watching-WGM-as-it-airs phases, I watched the train-to-Busan episode and there was like, this story where Yonghwa talked about, seeing her or something, before he debuted? I don't even remember, it was just meant to be ~romantic~, in a I-once-saw-you-across-a-room kind of way, anyway I related it to [livejournal.com profile] goldenmelisande and said something like "lol 15% chance that story was real" and she was like "oh Alex, ZERO PERCENT CHANCE".)

But omg the thing I love, so much, about Yongseo is that there's this part of what happened between them that cannot have been scripted. And when I say that I don't mean "lol they're fucking" or "lol they're in love" or anything like that at all, I just mean their relative comfort levels with each other. They were awkward as fuck when they met. Watching them interact was incredibly uncomfortable (in a good way somehow?!?!? I mean we all kept watching...). But it changed. Something about being forced to spend that much time together altered them. She learned to be just as loud and whiny around him as she is around SNSD, to accept and even initiate physical intimacy (sure, that was probably scripted too: grab his arm, let him roll into your lap, whatever, but the point is that the girl she was in Feb '10 couldn't have done that, it would have been too much). And he learned her: his reaction to her in their first couple of episodes is priceless, because he's so clearly like who is this creature and how did she end up on earth with the rest of us. Pure bafflement. But he knows her, by the end. He's got all her cues figured out. He knows how to fix things with her when he fucks them up (the stupid couple scarves he knitted them to replace the once she made fjdklsfjdsklfj LET ME DIE, OKAY, JUST LET ME DIE).

God, just: forced proximity is the greatest trope!!!! Like what you have here is two people who probably never ever would have spent time together in a normal world, but they have to pretend to be married because korean variety television is weird and so they have to get to this point. Idk.

(I really loved his line in the last episode, "what are you going to do without me, Seo Joohyun, your life will be so boring?", like for some reason ALL THE FEELINGS)

Why are the episodes where Seohyun is bratty and mean to him always my favorites

Why didn't we get more episodes with SNSD being obnoxious and weird and embarrassing

WHY DIDN'T WE GET MORE JUNGSHIN CHINGU

at least there is this.

Sometimes I like to pretend that I don't get feelings from all of this BUT THAT'S PRETTY OBVIOUSLY UNTRUE

I watched NOWHERE NEAR as much of this as you did and I don't know if I really want to try and finish it (can't believe you seriously watched ALL OF IT when to me it's like, this insurmountable gigantic entity, I don't know), but they really do give me so many more feelings now. I JUST love how much it changed Seobb especially, I love that like you said, underneath all the stupid scripted ~romantic~ shit there is a real significant change in her comfort level with him and that's really what makes it so sweet. Also it will never not be hysterical to me that he was probably super pumped at the idea of getting to be fake married to a SNSD member (SNSD!) and then getting Seohyun, who is super awkward and weird and underneath that, demanding and prissy and whiny and SO INCREDIBLY STRANGE. I will never understand so many people's attitudes toward her, I see so many comments about her being boring or being "innocent" or those weird comments that like idealize her/put her on a pedestal above other idols or whatever when like, clearly Seohyun's #1 characteristic is that she is from Mars, and #2 is that she is (unintentionally) the funniest fucking person in the entire world.

WELL OFC IT'S LIKE THIS GIANT INSURMOUNTABLE ENTITY TO YOU, you left off at like episode 10 (or something), whereas I always got excited about it and then bored and then excited and then bored, so I accomplished it all it in chunks. (And the thing about all that is that there were so many boring/useless episodes thrown inbetween all the really interesting ones, and also, for once, their story is almost more about the destination than the journey?) I mean this time, when I went back, I only had maybe 13 episodes left from where I'd left off, and since we're talking 15-25 minute chunks... well, it was unfortunately easy to gobble my way through that (and this is all your fault, BY THE WAY).

UM AT SOME POINT SHE APPARENTLY ACTUALLY SAID TO HIM (lol there were a lot of flashbacks in their last episode) that she didn't have male friends before him, so. Yeah. Like, whether that actually specifically is true or not, I do think that being on this series marked a huge change in her life somehow? (WHO ELSE CAN SAY THAT, GOD SHE IS SO ABNORMAL, OUR LITTLE ~CELEBRITY~). It was a fake marriage, but it was a real life learning experience.

But yes, lol Yoong~'s life, ANY OF THE OTHER EIGHT WOULD HAVE BEEN EXACTLY WHAT HE HAD IN MIND, but then I guess that's precisely the point of picking her.

I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR LAST SENTENCE, god Seohyun to me you are perfect but in the strangest possible sense of that word

HEY LOOK WHAT YOUTUBE RECOMMENDED ME (http://youtu.be/w_d96i6hFbY)! Also this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo1TWiQM89Q&feature=related) was in the related videos, and that produced this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52PQuAM-184&feature=related) and this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbzfaHbI-Qc&feature=related), and this is semi-unrelated to WGM/Seobb being an alien, but really qt (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTgTUmRxoR0&feature=related).

SHE IS ONE OF A KIND!

And oh my god I am DYING at the drinking game thing, LIKE, OF COURSE SHE DID THAT AND I LOVE HER SO MUCH FOR IT. She's just such a baby, anyone who tries to say she's "mature" for her age is clearly way off the mark.

ok in general this whole music core thing was so cute/funny/cheesy (http://goguma-goguma.tumblr.com/post/10375782278)

I have a lot of feelings for YongSeo too!!! Yeah I agree, it's so ridiculously scripted... that they just happen to go to the same saloon lmao and all that. I eat it up though. And I think she was being honest when she said that like it was hard for her to be friends and talk to guys and how he really helped her with that. And when she freaking teared in the interview? She definitely changed and that really showed genuinely. And Yong choding was always so funny.

YEAH he loses a lot of shit and I remember getting really angry at him bc it felt like he was being inconsiderate. but there are moments when he was like, ahh I can't kiss her bc it's her first kiss.. shouldn't take that away.. etc. And I loved it when SNSD (lol sometimes just Hyo) was there and were all like YAH! And seriously, one of my fave moments is when they beat CN blue bros at pool (http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lmxw079VWj1qzvkufo1_400.png) hahaha And seriously their time in Japan. There should have been mooooooaaaaaarrr THEY HAVE A BOND. IT'S CUTE. Also a good moment when she put on that mask and sang Love Light.. so funny. Ugh she is so adorable. And smart.

FEELINGS WHAT ARE THEY .

THAT FIRST CAP IS SO PERFECT, it encapsulates everything aw

And I seriously loved all the stuff like MuCore hosting (and the duets... and the fact that they still get asked about each other on interviews...) they ended up doing outside of the show.

He did do a lot of stupid stuff but there were also points where she was RIDICULOUSLY demanding. Like when she got mad at him for not specifically saying "oh hey, you've been wearing the necklace I gave you!", like, LOL, WHO WOULD DO THAT?!?! Kind of pity the person who ends up with her because her expectations are SKY HIGH, but not really because she is so sweet/endearing :( I really do love the episodes right after he fucks up tbh, something about him trying to make it up to her and her being whiny/unyielding really gets me, iiiiiiiiiidek. Like the one right after their anniversary/the goguma field (this gif (http://i53.tinypic.com/2drz7z7.gif) is still my favorite WGM gif! I don't know the touchiness/personal space stuff is such a big deal for them so it's extra cute). But yeah I think he did help her grow up and learn to talk to guys. It makes sense that she'd be that sheltered... I mean, a combination of only child + her personality + debuting in a girl group when she was 16. But it was funny how about halfway through the show she gets a couple of ~male friends~ and starts teasing him about Jungmo oppa and Kyuhyun oppa.

The SNSD episodes were so good because they were always such big sisters, BASICALLY JUST THERE TO EMBARRASS THE HELL OUT OF BOTH OF THEM. Hyoyeon was a little more normal in the picnic episode, though. And aw I had almost forgotten about the pool episode, but that really was so cute. ALL THE CN BLUE EPISODES WERE CUTE. And yes their Japan trip :3. I wish they were still filming too, sometimes stuff happens (like Seohyun playing a guitar cover in an interview in September) and I just... gawd, would really like to know how Yonghwa felt about that. BUT THAT IS NO LONGER A PRIVILEGE I HAVE.

Also Onew is so cute there!! Didn't he also say "you'd better treat her well >:(" or something? Because awrr, SM family, MY FAVES.
