Last night dudski resurrected the top fives meme, and it reminded me that as many times as that has gone around I haven't done it since like, 2007? Maybe 2008? So eons, in internet time. 2. There was a pairs skater named Elena, idremember her last name but her partner was an Anton? A COUPLE OF ROUNDS OF OLYMPICS AGO. She was cool! I LIKED HER FACE.
3. Relatedly I used to figure skate with a girl named Elena, she was the only fellow lefty I trained with other than Vivian! She was really nice, much nicer than her bratty friend Jordan.
4. The only other Elena I can think of is Vivian's ex-girlfriend but idk if she counts because I've never met her?
5. (H)elena is totally the best Midsummer Night's Dream character? I REALLY WANTED HER TO HOOK UP WITH LYSANDER, I D E K. This is pathetic though, I'M SORRY YOU DIDN'T GET TO TOP A MORE CUTTHROAT LIST :(

TOP FIVE MOMENTS IN HARRY POTTER
5. When I was a kid (13ish) I was like, super crazy obsessed with the Yule Ball/specifically the line afterwards that implied Ron had ripped apart his Viktor Krum action figure (I could recite that paragraph from memory). It is not nearly as centrifugal to my enjoyment of of Harry Potter now that I don't have to spend as much as my life ~convincing~ my middle school friends that Ron/Hermione was endgame, but it feels wrong to ignore it.

4. I really love the scene in OotP right after they meet Grawp/Ron's big game, idk, just... the trio relaxing by the lake, Ron being twerpy, and Harry and Hermione breaking stuff to him.

3. The scene where Harry talks to Luna after Sirius dies? Which makes me sound like a crazy Harry/Luna person, which I'm not even, I just found that moment really poignant.

2. Honestly basically the entire last... quarter? of Prisoner of Azkaban, but my faaaaavorite is the stuff in the shrieking shack (DRAMATIC TWISTS AND REVEALS I love that shit idek) and my even more favorite is:

"You know what this means?" Black said abruptly to Harry as they made their slow progress along the tunnel. "Turning Pettigrew in?"

"You're free," said Harry.

"Yes...," said Black. "But I'm also -- I don't know if anyone ever told you -- I'm your godfather."

"Yeah, I knew that," said Harry.

"Well... your parents appointed me your guardian," said Black stiffly. "If anything happened to them..."

Harry waited. Di Black mean what he thought he meant?

"I'll understand, of course, if you want to stay with your aunt and uncle," said Black. "But... well... think about it. Once my name's cleared... if you wanted a... a different home..."

Some sort of explosion took place in the pit of Harry's stomach.

"What -- live with you?" he said, accidentally cracking his head on a bit of rock protruding from the ceiling. "Leave the Dursleys?"

"Of course, I thought you wouldn't want to," said Black quickly. "I understand, I just thought I'd -- "

"Are you insane?" said Harry, his voice easily as croacky as Black's. "Of course I want to leave the Dursleys! Have you got a house? When can I move in?"

Black turned right around to look at him; Snape's head was scraping the ceiling but Black didn't seem to care.

"You want to?" he said. "You mean it?"

"Yeah, I mean it!" said Harry.

Black's gaunt face broke into the first true smile Harry had seen upon it. The difference it made was startling, as though a person ten years younger were shining through the starved mask; for a moment, he was recognizable as the man who had laughed at Harry's parents' wedding.

omg yesssss to the Sirius Black thing, I love that last paragraph you quoted SO MUCH. FOUND FAMILY ALWAYS WARMS MY HEART!!! I kind of feel like rereading HP again but like, that might be too much for me. I need time to recuperate. Every time I re-read Deathly Hallows, I am always like "oh no how are they going to find the Horcruxes" and it's so bleak and then not and I am just so amazed by them, ugh I love them so much brave Gryffindors.

huh this is actually hard. YESSSS to Phantom Planet though. I remember everyone (including me) going crazy over that version when it first came out. SO GLAD I suckered the lead singer of Phantom Planet to play it for me. So I second that and Andrew Bird! I think they would be (NO NUMBERS because I don't knowww)

I KNOW I DIE EVERY TIME I READ IT, ugh just that whole thing breaks my heart in the best possible way because you know, every time, it won't happen, but they just want it so much. But yessssss omg.

ugh how much do I love that it was Harry's happy memory for his Patronus? :'( :'( :'(

YEAH I mean I feel like there are a lot of whistling songs (of course there are, look at the blog) but it's hard to think on the spot! oh I also really like The Drums a lot because they whistle so much and are so fun.

oh my god, I love this comment SO MUCH. if I wasn't lazy, I would draw hearts ALL AROUND IT. how much do I love that you drew hearts all over the girls? A LOT!! I FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT SULLI.
