Last night [livejournal.com profile] dudski resurrected the top fives meme, and it reminded me that as many times as that has gone around I haven't done it since like, 2007? Maybe 2008? TOP 5 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT VOYAGER
Once I saw this promo for Voyager (and when I say "once" I literally mean one time, I watched a shitload of Voyager reruns in my youth and this was only used once) that was like "7 reasons 7 young men watch Star Trek: Voyager" and it went 1. Jeri Ryan 2. Jeri Ryan 3. Jeri Ryan 4. Jeri Ryan 5. Jeri Ryan 6. Jeri Ryan 6. Jeri Ryan 7. Seven of Nine

And in the spirit of that there's a part of me that wants this list to be 1. Everything 2. Everything 3. Everything 4. Everything 5. Everything

BUT LIKE I WOULD PREVENT MYSELF FROM TALKING ABOUT VOYAGER THINGS
5. I dug up this (http://clairelight.typepad.com/seelight/2009/08/geek-post-why-voyager-rocked.html) a couple of weeks ago and I really love it, it's basically about how even though it's lame Voyager is actually really innovative as a TV show because (among other well-reasoned reasons) not only does it place women in positions of power, it shows strong-willed, interesting men willingly taking a backseat to them both professionally and personally.
4. The use of tropes is gratuitous and also incredible. The episodes that should be the worst (NAZIS IN SPACE) are often their best.
3. I SERIOUSLY FEEL BAD FOR EVERYONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE BLOOD FEVER IN THEIR LIVES, like, seriously. PON FARR: HE HAS TO REJECT HER BECAUSE HE LOVES HER!
2. P/T A K A MY FIRST OTP A K A THE BEST SHIP!!! They are like, beautiful in all kinds of ways but most specifically I love that they are like these two completely different personalities that work really hard to make things work because they love each other. Also I love that we get to see all three phases: flirty, dating, and MARRIEDS.
1. THE CHARACTERS!! Specifically I love B'Elanna Torres more than like, anything in the world (and omg HARRY KIM YOU DARLING LITTLE BOY), but I think that the brainblock I have with the other Trek series is the fact that I never love everyone on the crew? And I do on Voyager. EVEN NEELIX, COME AT ME INTERNET. And I love how much they love each other, omg all their stupid bonding scenes are my favorite :3

LOVE ALL YOUR CHOICES!! APPROVE ALL YOUR VOYAGER THOUGHTS!!! I hadn't read that article before THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!! I agree about finding it hard to get into the other Treks because of the crew, or whatever. I LOVED EVERYONE ON VOYAGER. Maybe it's because I watched the show before the internet taught me how to hate, but whatever, I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS SPACESHIP!! Also B'Elenna/Tom and BLOOD FEVER, YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID.

Maybe it's because I watched the show before the internet taught me how to hate, but whatever, I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS SPACESHIP!!
LOL, SO TRUE!! Or maybe it's just that Voyager taught me how to be enthusiastic so I don't know how to not be? IDK WHATEVER IT IS I LOVE THAT STUPID SHOW.
