Truly told I am not watching Glee anymore, but let us take a moment to regret that Jayma Mays' total adorableness is wasted on Emma:

GOD, SHE IS SO PRECIOUS, I LOVE HER THE VERY MOST. (Her husband is darling too, oh my goodness. Although lol forever, I THINK THEY MAY HAVE MET ON THE SET OF EPIC MOVIE. Classy. But aww.)

Anyway, what up m'nerds! I just had my pupils dilated, I look like a monster and I cannot see a thing! And in other news, my laptop cord is so completely on its' last legs that I have to prop it properly in two separate places for it to work. I swear to god, all I do is break them. And then I'm like "god, you guys, computer cords are so flimsy! Why doesn't anyone ever make better ones!" and everyone is kind of like "??????" and I'm like, "Seriously, when we had that old powerbook? I LITERALLY SAW TWO CATCH ON FIRE!". And they're still like "...okay!" So I guess it turns out this only happens to me! I am the only one with a personal graveyard of 15 zillion broken computer cords. It kind of makes me wonder what I do wrong with them that everyone else doesn't do. It's really like I'm thirteen again, and I'm the only girl who has to screw her stupid skate blades on tighter every time she gets on the ice. And everyone is kind of like "????? You carry a screwdriver in your skate bag? I tighten my blades twice a year max, WEIRDO" and like, OKAY GUYS, I'M JUST TRYING TO PREVENT A REPEAT OF THAT ONE TIME MY SKATE BLADE LITERALLY FELL OFF MID-JUMP DURING BREAK FROM REHERSAL FOR PIRATES ON ICE (there is nothing with less traction than the bladeless bottom of an ice skate, you guys) so maybe let's tone down the judging buuuuuuut then, what am I doing that makes my blades fall off so much quicker than everyone else? And how is it I break so many computer cords? I would really like to know.

Yeah, there's definitely a problem with the way they treat the women, but friends of mine whom I've talked to about it are like, "Guys, they're doing it on purpose. It's just satire." And I'm like, HMM, NO.

I still love the costumes. Ice skating and ballet costumes are always so detailed and lovely and sparkly and WHATEVER, I AM A GIRL, I CAN BE GIRLY. Oh my god, I bet the spies routine would have been amaaaaaazing. And teenyboppers! I love it.

Oh, no, I just realized there was a random "no" in there! I meant to write that we are in correspondence! Whoops.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah that's what everyone says! But the really irksome stuff doesn't even fit with the stereotypes they're satirizing, they're just... completely ridiculous. I don't know. It just comes off like a show written by some bumbling white dudes who are unaware of their privilege and unable to write their intent (if that makes sense, that is an awkward sentence), and... blerg. I WAS SO EXCITED FOR THE SHOW, TOO. We have established how I feel about all musicals :(

Yeeeeeeeeeees!! Me too. Girly costumes were my motivation in everything as a child, and... IDK, I guess I haven't changed that much. I'm crossing my fingers there's a midnight premiere for The Princess & the Frog so my friends & I can dress up in old prom dresses and $2 tiaras.

That sentence makes so much more sense now.

I don't know, I like it. I enjoy it. But there are problems with it, and it sort of bothers me that people won't accept that there are problems. I get it, it's a happy show, it's fun, but guess what guys, just because it's all those things doesn't mean people can't criticize it. :-\

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
It is fun, and the musical numbers are delightful. But yeah. I agree completely. Your happy place is not immune to criticism, internet.

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Unless it's Chuck, in which case I will yell, "TRA LA LA!" in your faaaaaaaace. (No, I can accept criticism, I'm just on a Chuck high right now, and nothing can stop me!)

Cannnnnn we talk about how waiting this long to put the season 2 DVDs out is good for no one? Or possibly how amazing Awesome knowing is going to make this season? Because omg.

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
I knooooow! I didn't even realize they weren't out yet until [livejournal.com profile] calikalie mentioned. What is with that?! Not cool. OMG, SO EXCITED. Aww, Awesome. He has such a big heart, I adore him.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Awesome is exactly my type. It's a big joke (...in real life): for me it is always the traditionally pretty, athletic, earnest ones. It's kind of a problem, because sometimes it even takes me a week or two before I notice that they aren't that bright. AWESOME IS, THOUGH, in his way, so, best of both worlds.

Buuuuuuuuut yes. I was afraid I wasn't going to be that excited (until January, obviously, when I will be no matter what) but then that promo was full of Awesome being all "OMG BRO THIS SPY STUFF RULES" and suddenly, Chuck was the greatest again. Even though they will all stay at the Buy More this season. I am going to have to get over my dislike of that.

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Awesome isn't really my type, but I still love him. You've got the best of both worlds. You're like Hannah Montana.

I'm not crazy about the Buy More plotlines, but I think the last/only time I did an unpopular opinions post, one of the ones I gave for Chuck was that I don't hate that storyline as much as other people do.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahahahahah :|

Now that you mention that I remember you saying that! I... don't know. Part of it is a mobility thing, I am overinvested in Ellie and her view of Chuck, and I was so excited when the finale aired and it looked like they'd uproot the Buy More stuff. Idk, it's weird-- it's mostly that the plots they give to the Buy More kids are pretty asinine, and it always makes someone look bad. In season 1 it was Morgan, and Jeff and Lester were usually amusing, in season 2 I thought it was the other way around.

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I shouldn't really like it. And I'm not sure I like it, I just don't dislike it? I like Tony Hale, but the Emmett stuff got pretty tired pretty fast for me. And I like it a lot more when Morgan is the one who's amusing and Jeff and Lester are the ones taking the fall, simply because we've seen that Morgan really is a good guy, despite being stuck at the Buy More and always trio-ing with Jeff and Lester. But, like, the Jeffster stuff? I really enjoy that. I CRIED DURING THE "MR. ROBOTO" WEDDING MONTAGE, I AM NOT LYING. And Morgan can grate, too, but he has his moments. I like when they make Jeff, Lester, Morgan, etc. more sympathetic. We get very brief moments of something, I don't know, different from Jeff and Lester occasionally. It's rare, but I like it when it happens.

(Gosh, that icon/scene reminds me so much of a scene from S1 of Alias when Syd is doing a dead drop. I just went through screencaps of the first ten episodes before realizing that I made an icon of that scene (a really long time ago, HAAAAAAY, memory). I just looked at the icon, and the ground is different, so it's not the same walkway. But! They've both filmed at UCLA, so whatevs, points for me still.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
OKAY, THE MR. ROBOTO THING? UNDENIABLY HILARIOUS. It's not that there's no potential for humor in the Buy More stuff: there is. I just think they shouldn't've made them theme song level stars (except maybe Morgan, but even he is best in smaller doses)-- it should be okay to leave them out of some episodes. I just... idk, I feel like it would be better if they mostly didn't try to make storylines out of them, and just fit them into brief moments of comic relief.

YOUR EYE IS MAGIC, I would not have recognized that at all.

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
I was just reading an interview with Vik Sahay, and he kept denying the interviewer any S3 tidbits because of confidentiality and stuff, but he did say that the budget cuts will be noticeable in one way or another. So who knows if that means less of the Buy More or less of something else? And I agree with the credits thing, but I think Morgan has to be. As annoying as Morgan be, Chuck needs him.

THANK YOU. I don't know, so many shows film at UCLA that I just start to notice it, I guess?

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
I thought I heard something about Sarah working at Subway this season? I... am hoping that is wrong. But yes, Chuck needs Morgan. I actually liked him a lot more in season 2. In season 1 he was my greatest source of annoyance, in season 2, Jeff and Lester were more frequently the truly obnoxious ones. And that episode where Morgan gets kidnapped kind of... explained and cemented their friendship. Sometimes I wondered, in season 1.

The only show I ever notice things on is FNL, and that is a product of my Austin childhood, not my eye. But it's true: UCLA and USC have to front for every college. Good thing they're both pretty campuses.

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I thought I remembered reading that Subway is going to factor in in some (even more) obvious way. The Subway stuff actually hasn't started yet, though, but I'm only on 2x06.

Oh, that's great that you can notice stuff on that show, though! I can't tell the difference betwene UCLA and USC. Well, maybe, I don't know. I did a three-week summer program at UCLA a few years ago, but I barely remember the campus. I occasionally recognize Occidental, though, but that's only because I picked it over where I go now, so I went out to visit it a couple times.
