it's really too bad i can never think of interesting things to post!

I don't suppose anyone would like to help me brainstorm ideas for what to name my new (warranty replacement) iPod???? I SUCK AT THIS, I ended up haaaaaaating my last iPod name (Lefou, to go with Gaston the laptop) AND YOU GUYS... DON'T SUCK AT THIS?

P.S. I am kind of upset about the del.icio.us redesign, but not nearly as upset as I am about the fact that it is no longer del.icio.us, BUT INSTEAD delicious.com. I... WHAT. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? I'M SO NOT OKAY WITH IT. Not on, del.icio.us people. NOT. ON.

Any ideas about what you want to name it? Liz? Lemon? Ainsley? Sam? Mulder? Scully? Skinner? Hank? Karen? Jim? Pam? Michael? Dwight? Creed? Angela? Phyllis? Bob Vance? lol, idk.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
HA HA HA HA, WAY TO THROW IT ALL OUT THERE. You're so helpful!

Bob Vance and Lemon are both kind of adorably zany? Scully is already in the running now? AND HA, AINSLEY AND SAM. AUGH, WHY AM I SO INDECISIVE :(

[identity profile] tenacious-err.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
...Janeway is a good name, too. Lol I find a good way to pick fandom names is by looking at your icons? If you have an icon of someone you'll probably consider naming an object after it? I can't seem to stop using question marks?

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
OH, JANEWAY REALLY IS A GOOD ONE. I... can't remember if I've ever honored ~*MY GIRL*~ by naming something after her.

The question mark thing is a contagious disease. SORRY?

[identity profile] tenacious-err.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
But you didn't use a question mark at the end of yours, so there's nothing to be sorry about? You stopped the cycle?.

Um. I reallllly like Janeway as a name, period. I've been watching the show a bit here and there but even before that I used to just randomly say Janeway? Jannnnnneeeeewayyyyyy. It rolls off the tongue really well, or something. IDK BUT I LOVE THAT NAME. /Rambly ramble.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I think Voyager always had REALLY NICE NAMES. Is that a weird thing to think? TOM PARIS. KATHRYN JANEWAY. I always really liked the name B'Elanna too.

...maybe the rest of them are there to make up for Chakotay, lololol.

[identity profile] tenacious-err.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
No, I agree with that. It MAY be weird to think, but I... kind of obsess over names in shows and such. And I do really like the names on Voyager, but I think Star Trek in general has always had pretty awesome names. Of course this could just be because they're all kind of legendary now and that adds to the name a bit.

...Chakotay always reminds me of BOOTAY. Which... is okay because Chakotay and Bootay are... kind of similar? Um.

RAMBLIEST RAMBLE EVER.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
That's not that weird! NAMES ARE VERY IMPORTANT. I always wondered why they chose Diana for Diana Fowley? SO SIMILAR TO DANA. Star Trek does tend to pick awesome names though, and they have a knack for the alien ones? OBVIOUSLY.

Enterprise's were only okay, though, now that I think about it.

AHAHAHAHA. I am so so so not attracted to Chakotay/Robert Beltran. [livejournal.com profile] byobatleth got on my case about that once BUT I WILL NEVER CONCEDE.

[identity profile] tenacious-err.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
BECAUSE FOX WAS OBVIOUSLY CONFUSED AND THOUGHT DIANA WAS DANA. :( DUH, ALEX.

Lol no, but I've wondered that too. Fowley is the perfect last name for her and Diana is now a bit of a sinister name in my mind lol, but it is so close to Dana. I always wonder if they did that on purpose or WHY they did it. WHAT UP CC.

Yes, Trek definitely has those alien names DOWN. Klingons! Vulcans! ...Other races! Meh, Enterprise... is such a lame show anyway? I mean, I don't know THAT much about the trek universe minus TNG but... TOS, TNG, Voyager, and to a degree Deep Space Nine were all good shows. I mean they were all CORNY and LOLWUT but... they were endearing? Well, I've never cared for TOS but a lot of people love it, so I'll count it. (ALTHOUGH, MOVIE: It actually looks pretty good.) But Enterprise... was corny in the bad way. IF THAT MAKES SENSE. I watched one Enterprise and that was enough for me. It's kind of the death of Trek, so I mostly pretend it doesn't exist. It's like Trek's unwanted sexaholic cousin. :(

Hahahahaha that's okay! I think he's attractive, but that doesn't mean you have to. I 'M NOT ATTRACTED TO KRYCEK/NICHOLAS LEA AT ALL. And it seems like everyone and their mother is attracted to him. Lol so I just felt like sharing an equal lack of attraction in an apparently attractive character.

And yay, I get to use my Trek icons for once. Lol, even if it's the wrong show. I NEVER GET TO USE MY TREK ICONS.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
I've always thought they must've meant to do it, but... I OBVIOUSLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M ALKING ABOUT.

And yes! I always liked the Trill names. And okay -- no one understands Enterprise? I MEAN, YES, it was a horrible, horrible show, but the fourth (and final) season was actually phenomenal. Because after doing three (HORRIBLE) seasons of it Berman and Braga threw up their hands and handed it over to this guy Manny Coto, who did EVERYTHING IN HIS POWER to give it a TOS feel (in... a good way? He actually made several episodes that EXPLAINED AWAY the continuity errors from the first three seasons, which... I think is AWESOME). The only bad episodes from that season were the first (when Manny had to fix the killer Bee's ~omg we're back in time and earth is being taken over by Nazis~ cliffhanger) and the last (when B&B came back and made the VERY WORST EPISODE OF TELEVISION EVER MADE). I mean, I know one solitary season among piles of crap does not a good show make, and I couldn't even sit through s1/s2/s3 as an obsessed 11-year-old trekkie, but... I TOTALLY WROTE LETTERS WHEN THEY WERE GOING TO CANCEL IT :( LOL LOSER. (also, lololol, did you just put DS9 below ALL THE OTHERS? Everyone usually likes that best at all!)

I AM NOT ESPECIALLY ATTRACTED TO KRYCEK EITHER? I mean... I kind of am? More than I am to Robert Beltran? But I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM.

BUT I THINK TOM IS VOYAGER'S ~RESIDENT HOTTIE~.

I've already used all the ones I have :( :( :( UNLESS YOU COUNT MY WEST WING ONES, SEEING AS THEY WERE ALL ~DECEASED MEMBERS OF THE VOYAGER CREW~.

[identity profile] tenacious-err.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Lol well, it'd be a pretty weird coincidence, I think.

Well, I never saw the last season, so that's kind of sad that it's phenomenal and hidden in the CRAP of the other seasons. That guy sounds pretty awesome, but... I feel like people who were hardcore watchers of the first three seasons wouldn't really appreciate an awesome writer. But maybe I am wrong. IT WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME. WELL. I haven't seen very much DS9, like one episode lol, SO I DON'T KNOW. I swear TNG was the only show playing a ridiculous amount when I was growing up, so it's the one I kind of know. But a treky I am not.

WELL I'M GLAD. I always feel like I must be seeing things wrong, because apparently Krycek is srs business hot.

I WANT TO DECLARE TNG'S RESIDENT HOTTIE, BUT UM, I CAN'T THINK OF ONE? I was young when I watched it so I always wanted Picard to be my dad so it's just... weird to think of him any other way. And I've never much cared for Jonathan Frakes/Riker. Or Worf. Or Geordi. Or Data. Or Wesley. I FEEL BAD. CAN I NAME BEVERLY AS THE HOTTIE? BUT. THEN WOULDN'T JANEWAY BE VOYAGER'S HOTTIE IF WE CAN INCLUDE WOMEN? :(

THAT TOTALLY COUNTS. And I mostly just have icons of BEVERLY AND JEAN-LUC. Because they LOVE each other. And they are badass, so mine are really... weirdly similar. or something.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
I feel like people who were hardcore watchers of the first three seasons wouldn't really appreciate an awesome writer.
LOL, SO TRUE. But I don't know -- I would postulate that anyone who was a fan of any one of the shows is a trekkie.

HEY, I LOVE GEORDI :( :( :( And my ex-bff wanted to marry Data as a child (lololol)? BUT I DON'T KNOW -- if we throw women into the Voyager hottie game, it gets incredibly complicated. Because yes, Kathryn Janeway is incredibly attractive, but so is B'Elanna! And Kes! And yes, she of the skintight catsuit too. IT'S TOO MUCH.

FINE, I AM GOING TO USE MY STAR TREK ~LOVERS~ ICON TOO.

[identity profile] tenacious-err.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
I DON'T KNOW THOUGH, I kind of consider Trekkies the hxc fans who know every miniscule detail about the show? And argue that it is the best thing ever, and are... kind of obnoxious. But maybe that isn't fair.

I was always distracted by Geordi's huge visor. :( Y yes, I am shallow.

Not Seven of Nine, too? LOL, this one girl on the show LOVED Data. I never could understand that he... has no emotions. WELL THERE ARE ONLY TWO WOMEN ON TNG SO IT'S NOT A HARD PICK FOR ME. :(

WELL FINE THEN I'LL COUNTER IT WITH ANOTHER SHOULD-HAVE-BEEN-LOVERS-BUT-WEREN'T-IN-CANON-BUT-THEN-THERE-ARE-TWO-BOOKS-THAT-PUT-THEM-TOGETHER-AND-GIVE-CRUSHER-SOME-BALLS-AND-STRENGTH ICON. TAKE THAT.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I've always considered it to be any fan of Star Trek. You can be a casual trekkie or a hardcore trekkie or whatever? Although I used to think ~trekker~ meant fans of new Trek (DS9 and Voyager) and ~trekkie~ meant fan of Old Trek (TNG and TOS). BECAUSE I WAS A HUGE NERD. Although LOLOLOL at anyone who thinks Star Trek in any form is the best thing ever.

I loved him because he was my frand on Reading Rainbow :(

She's catsuit girl. BUT YEAH, YOUR DECISION IS EASIER THAN MINE :(

....BUT MINE WAS TOM AND B'ELANNA. THERE IS NO SHOULD, THEY DID.

[identity profile] tenacious-err.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, I've always seen trekkies as the ones who go to cons and dress up and point out the little inaccuracies in everything. But I don't know! You've been more into the fandom than I have, so I just have a kind of biased view of everything I guess. Hahahaha but there ARE people who think it's the best thing ever! They're... scary.

I loved him on Reading Rainbow! I just don't love Geordi. :(

AH, I SEE. THIS MAKES SENSE.

BUT PICARD AND CRUSHER *SAID* THEY LOVED EACH OTHER. And they had a history! And they were cute! The show was super mean because they wanted the captain to be open to romances in the movies. I didn't care much about Troi/Riker, but they are the only ship that actually got together on the show. PICARD/CRUSHER WAS WAY BETTER. AND CUTER. IT WAS A HUGE INJUSTICE. :(

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
I went to a Trekkie convention once when I was twelve! It was... really boring.

:( :( :(. I can't really talk, I know like, NOTHING about the actual characters.

AWWWWW :( :( :( At least they had a better ending than Janeway and Chakotay???? (Actually, did they? I have no idea.)

[identity profile] tenacious-err.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah... they seem pretty boring.

I don't know, how did Janeway and Chakotay end? Picard and Crusher... um. Well, they did a few cute things in the movies (SOME IN DELETED SCENES) but not much. In the show, it ends with Picard going to all the alternate timelines and in one he and Crusher married for 30 years then divorced, but then when they're in his room and he's telling her about it she kisses him and says things can change. And in the movies Crusher leaves to go be head of the medical people and doesn't even work with Picard anymore. They totally set up the ship and let it fall through. :( Except for in two books, which I guess aren't considered canon but are what I imagine they're doing now.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
:( :( :( :( :(

But yeah, Janeway and Chakotay was worse. They were well set-up in seasons two and three especially, but then it sort of slacked off and occasionally they would have moments but there were also a lot of alien-lovers-of-the-week and... yes. Then midway through season 7, there was this INCREDIBLY wonderful shippy (time travel! have i mentioned i love time travel?) episode that ended in

...and then he goes and gets with Seven of Nine. Not just gets with her, he marries her in the future where they don't get back to Earth? It... like, it literally made ZERO sense. They needed someone to be with Seven of Nine, yes, but EVERY OTHER MALE MEMBER OF THE CAST had been shown to enjoy Seven of Nine's company more than Chakotay? It... was ridiculously stupid and sudden. And that is how the show ended.

...but honestly, I LOVED TOM AND B'ELANNA MORE, AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER, SO.
