Happy Birthday
captaincatapult!!! Oh Annnnnnna, you light up my life in a million different little ways. You're going to make such a wonderful adult now that this birthday has sort of kind of really actually made you one (oops, adverb vomit). Thanks for being born!
Today was convocation! This semester is officially 100% over, and I am so unbelievably glad. I MISS SCHOOL, and having silent conversations with the kid next to you when class is really boring, that last glance at the equations you wrote down on a notecard before you walk into a classroom to take that damn midterm, skimming because you don't feel like reading, having things to whine about!!! I'm sure this is falling on deaf ears because you're all finishing up finals and CANNOT WAIT TO GET OUT, but I cannot wait for fall academia.
But! Summer should be great too.
ANYWAY, this was a really nice week. For a lot of little reasons -- this part of spring always makes me unbelivably happy because the TREES! ARE SO PRETTY! and the air smells nice because of that, and I love my sister, and I have suuuuuch amazing friends who like to think about people as much as I do (it's funny how transient college makes my social sphere -- this week I'm losing a lot of people to their homes, but I'll see them next fall, but my best friends! are flying home!) and just music and smoothies and shopping and crappy soft serve ice cream. Life is so NICE sometimes, you know?! Not for any big reason! Just nice!
I also figured out how to torrent things (24.1% of Outrageous Fortune season 3, HA!) and I am unreaaaaasonably proud of passing this important internet rite of passage.
Plus, OHMYGOSH, television was phenomenal this week. AND SO! A kind of mini picspam.
Monday

(Ohmygod the song. I cannot stop listening to it.)

Thursday

(In retrospect, I didn't actually even like this one that much, exactly? The Michael stuff was awkward, but in a been-there-done-that, kind of unfunny way. There were a number of moments I reallyreallyreally loved, heh, but as a whole it didn't work for me.)

(This makes two phenomenal episodes in a row! Oh my god, the parodying of the Bush administration? I was CRYING LAUGHING. It's too bad this was the finale so we can't make it a threefer!)
Is anyone else kiiiiiiiiiind of annoyed about this whole ~internet release date~ for the XF2 trailer? They were going to be on the big screen! Looking large and pretty! In front of Iron Man! Pulling it and putting it on IGN is so... anticlimatic.

I'm so excited to see the trailer I don't mind...though I do wish they'd put it on the big screen.

Basically shoving this movie in everyones face

But yeah, that's exactly it. I feel like the only people they're currently appealing to is fandom -- with Paley, Wondercon, NY Comic Con, etc -- which is great, but even the hardcorest of hardcore fans can't keep a movie afloat at the box office. There's a fanbase who doesn't care enough to look up spoilers on the internet, and what, exactly, has been done to reach out to them?
The fact that Iron Man was apparently so great (I haven't seen it yet) is kind of like salt in the wound? I mean, damn, that was our spot.

I mean sure, i'm going to see the movie as many times as my bank permits me to, and the only way that my friends outside fandom know about this movie is because of ME. I keep telling them about spoiler pictures, and OMFG MSR TO THE MAX. But they wouldn't have known otherwise because Fox is doing JACK SHIT to promote this movie to the general public.
Iron Man was fantastic, I saw it last weekend. the trailer would have been PERFECT in front of it. But instead we got, Narnia and SpeedRacer. and some other movie I can't remember. Probably one the one that took XF2s spot.

To be fair, there ARE posters hanging in almost every movie theater (at least here?), so at least, theoretically, someone might be able to find out that the movie exists, but it's nooooot enough.

I have not seen ONE poster hanging in a cinema here. Which makes me sad D:
Fox and co need to pull out ALL FUCKING STOPS to promote this movie.

I feel the same way about The Office this week. Like... a couple TOP FAVORITE scenes, but didn't love the whole episode. The Michael stuff was tedious, I loved the golf scenes though. Andy made me cringe so hard. And the phone call was the cutest ever "oh, I like you" made me so happy on the inside.
HIMYM! I don't think she's going to be mother, but I love her just the same and the ending was so cute. I'm a Ted!fan though. I know some people prefer Barney-centric episodes.

Yes yes yes that's exactly how I felt about the Office -- I mean, I came out of it happy because of those scenes I did love, but it wasn't... a good package? I liked... what it meant for the characters, but it wasn't a great story.
I love Stella, and I wish she was the mother, but it just doesn't make sense. I mean, seriously, the kids would know they'd gotten to the mother if she was actually a blonde dermatologist named Stella. But they retain their mildly interested expressions. It's almost like they're archive footage!

What song is it?
And Gossip Girl has taken over my life. I can't wait for Monday.

And Gossip Girl has taken over my life.
I KNOW, RIGHT? This week broke something in me. Before... I mean, I was more than a casual viewer, but suddenly Gossip Girl is my favorite thing? I don't know what to do with myself!

i keep looking at that picture from the office, third from the bottom on the right side? the way his arms wrap all the way around her back? i just. it wasn't my fav episode either, but like you said, there were some good parts. AND THAT WAS ONE OF THEM, THANKS.
hey, hey! when's the trailer supposed to come out? and hey, hey! is it cool if i just rely on you exclusively for all my xf2 news? becaaaauuuuse i kind of am.

monday! and i am totally cool with that, but sometimes i'm too lazy to mention things :(
...you infected me with your lowercasasaur disease :(

(by the way, don't actually feel like you have to be responsible for my knowing everything that comes up about xf2. i can try and make an effort, or something. sometimes i do that. occasionally.)

That picspam made me grin many times over. What a great idea, especially the separating by days. We got so lucky with TV this week (though I agree with you about The Office - it was very strange).
Your paragraph about how life is nice is, uh, nice! No but really, I completely agree with you and I'm so often overwhelmed by how plainly happy I am, and how enjoyable I find life.

This week's television was so so lovely -- usually there's a specific highlight, but this week it was just EVERYTHING?? I don't know.
I was going for the record of how many times a person can say nice in a paragraph -- I don't think I quite made it, but it was close. But yesssss, exactly.

Luckily I love you:
(You knowwwww, I think part of the reason I was only mildly interested in s1 of 30 Rock was the characters -- i.e. Jenna and Kenneth -- that I was only half interested in?? But they've both really been growing on me in s2. I DON'T KNOW. IT'S NICE. I THOUGHT YOU SHOULD KNOW.)

But Journey! Who are your favorites!
no subject
Um. I suck at picking favorites! I like Blair and Serena, and from a few things I've read I get the feeling people don't really like Jenny? But I think she's cute! And I like Nate, but more the Nate in the last few episodes than BroodyOverSerena!Nate. OH AND DAN'S DAD AND ERIC ARE CUTE TOO.
I think Chuck's an interesting character, but similar to the way I thought Snape of Harry Potter was interesting, rather than him being a true favorite.
ANYWAY, what about you?
no subject
I really love Dan and Serena, though (separately and together), I think S is probably my favorite. Although Rufus is way way up there too. I like Blair too, and Eric really is adorable. Jenny drives me UP THE WALL a lot of the time, but I don't... hate her.
And I know what you mean about Chuck -- at first he really bothered me, because the guy tried to rape not one but TWO girls in the pilot, but he's... grown on me?? He really is interesting, adds a lot to the show, and I love his interations with Serena and Eric. I'm reaaaaally into the Van Der Bass thing they've been doing lately.
...that was a lot of paragraphs. Damn show is ADDICTING.
no subject
Hahaha, Nate is kinda dumb, but he's adorable and it's impossible to hate him!
You make a good point about Chuck's interactions! I do like how he interacts with the other characters. I think that's actually become some of my favorite things about most characters; I'be been really into relationship (of any kind) interaction lately. For Chuck, Serena and Eric and Nate (and I'm a slasher at heart, so the part where he came to Nate's rescue after the card game gone bad made me happy) especially. But yeah, the bit where he tried to rape two girls in one episode was not on.
no subject
THIS IS ME EXACTLY. I've always been really into the friendships and relationships between little characters -- and I think Gossip Girl does really well with that? The Van der Basses, Dan and Nate lately, Nate and Vanessa, Dan and Blair... they use the odd connections between people SO WELL. And they do really well with the established friendships too. I think that's part of why I enjoy the show so much.
