So guys, you should be watching this show.

Your lady's here. And if I'm not overstepping my bounds, looking good.

Three minutes into the episode, and I am already bowled over by Zachary Levi's expressions, AS PER USUAL. I love the intrigued look that transforms into a half smile, SO MUCH LOVE. It is the perfect sequence of expressions for "oh hey, the girl I kind of like a lot is here! I'm allowed to be happy, right? Even though she's only posing as my girlfriend?"

The music selection in this show is also really amazing and appropriate. I love the accordian playing as Zachary Levi's facial expressions continue to amaze me. I also love the little bounce-up thing she doessss, but I am way overanalyzing their body language now, SO I WILL STOP AND MOVE ON TO THE GOOD STUFF.

Hey.
Hey. Give me a kiss.
...I'm sorry, what?
We've been on three dates, we have to sell it.

I enjoyed Morgan SO MUCH MORE this week, honestly. I thought it would take some graaaaand character development (that wasn't going to happen) to make him more than Chuck's annoying friend, but he had moments! Trying to keep John Casey from supposedly cockblocking Chuck! Rallying the Nerd Herders! Other things I will probably remember later! However, John Casey > Morgan.

Class five whitewater rapids. Just the two of us, this weekend, near death experience, awesome.

I LOVE YOU, CAPTAIN AWESOME.

Chuck gets his first mission, and John Casey continues to be fantastic.

I endorse the title sequence, by the way!

Did someone say tango?
No, thank you, Captain Awesome, I'll look it up online. ...would you please put on... something, a robe, or... something?
Did a semester abroad in Buenos Aires. I spent many a night tangoing my way into senorita's pantalones.

I'm not sure I would look that happy about my boyfriend grabbing my brother's ass. HOWEVER, CAPTAIN AWESOME? Only continues to get more awesome.

I've been a spy all of five seconds and I've already got soy sauce on my shirt.

Beautiful painting.
What's that? Yeah, beautiful painting. Yeah. It definitely has a quality about it, very, I would say, very Bob Rossian in its' influence.
Who?
Bob Ross. Bob Ross, you know Bob Ross, the guy who used to paint on PBS? With the afro and the soothing... you have no idea what I'm talking about.

No no no no no, you're not getting off that easy. Why won't you talk to me?
It's, loo-- it's complicated, okay, just let it go.
Fine, you don't want to talk to me, I suggest you find someone to talk to.

This was absolutely one of my favorite scenes of this episode, and looking back, I can't quite... explain why? I really liked Ellie a lot this episode, whereas before she was just... there. Even a little irritating? But there's something about her facial expressions (it runs in the family!) in the way she reacts to Captain Awesome, and then there's this scene, which is so much more poignant than the other I-love-my-brother-and-I-want-him-to-have-a-good-life scenes. This scene says a lot about the relationship between these two, andddd, I don't know, it's really rather lovely. And of course Zachary Levi does such a great job of portraying the fact that he really does like this girl, but she's only his fake girlfriend and he so very much wishes he could tell Ellie that because he doesn't want to disappoint her, and boy is he ever in way over his head.

So some computers get fixed, some showdowns go down, and then we have these last two scenes:

I just don't want to create a false sense of excitement for a relationship that seems doomed.
Why is it doomed?
Because she's not into me.
Uh, trust me, I have seen the way that that girl looks at you and she is into you.

Really?
It's none of my business!
Okay, no, okay fine, what the hell, what uh, what do you want to ask me about Sarah?
Really?
You better hurry up, this offer will not last.
Okay: do you like her?
Yeah.

I just know what an incredible guy Charles Bartowski is, and sometimes, I'm not so sure he knows it.
How do you feel about a brother/sister hug situation right now?
I'm open to it.

Okay, sure. So today I helped take down a major international arms dealer, but, tomorrow? Tomorrow I still gotta go clock in at Buy More. I mean, what's the good of being a hero if nobody knows about it?
You know. And so do I.
You know, if we were really dating, this'd be the part where I'd be forced to kiss you good night.
Forced? Would it be so bad?
I'm sure I could suffer through it.
Me too.

HI JOHN CASEY HI. I love that we are left on a simultaneously hilarious and poignant note.

IN CONCLUSION: I love Zachary Levi and this show. And yeahhhh, I really don't care enough about Heroes to picspam you with any of that. There wasn't even any Nathan. GET BETTER NEXT WEEK, I really do want to care.

I am more than in love with this show. So much so I want to take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant.

I love your picspam! Because Zachary Levi = yummy.

JUST THINK HOW LOVELY YOUR LOVECHILD WOULD BE!

Thank you! He for sure is so so many kinds of awesome. Did you see that Leno (I think?) segment where he went door-to-door, trying to make people watch Chuck? IT KIND OF MADE MY LIFE.

I love Chuck! It's my favorite new show. I think it could very easily be terrible, but it's not.

You're so so right about that: this premise is so easy to mess up and yet some combination of Zachary Levi's facial expressions/Adam Baldwin being awesome/self-deprecating humor/lovely scoring/tv magic make it come together perfectly.

Not only can Zachary "I Inspire People to Write Haikus" Levi pull off the entertaining, funny, quirky facial expressions, but he can also do the poignant ones so well! His expressions during the Because she's not into me. and I'm sure I could suffer through it. scenes? SO PERFECT.

I also, uh, maybe noticed that Zachary Levi seems to be in really good shape? Or something? I mean, I don't know, it's not like I was looking at this body when he has such good facial expressions.

Also! Captain Awesome taught him the girl part! I love that little detail. And his old buddy from high school freaking out in his hotel room, hahahahaha.

Capping this episode made me EVER MORE AWARE of his haiku-worthy facial expressions than I was already? The last two scenes are amazing, but I was really struck by his expressions in the first kiss-on-the-cheek scene? I totally didn't see that little smile the first time I watched the episode, AND HEY, I bet Sarah didn't see it either.

I may or may not have found a youtube video (with incredibly terrible sound, I advise muting) confirming this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=BUbPV8s3P20).

I... am kind of a lot in love with Captain Awesome. He is, indeed, very awesome. But the little details add so much! I loved the "spy humor" and the soy sauce and whitewater rafting and just. I like this show a lot.

GAH, I LOVE THIS SHOW SO, SO, SO MUCH AND I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD BE ONE OF THOSE. BUT IT IS AND THERE'S NO GOING BACK. And this spam is making me need to rewatch this episode. SO I WILL.

I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD BE ONE OF THOSE

OH, EXACTLY. I expected to enjoy it and have it be a welcome distraction from life (I had the Pilot downloaded onto my desktop for weeks but I didn't care enough to open it until it the night it premiered on television), but I was completely convinced Pushing Daisies would be my only new show of shows this season. I certainly did not expect to be this bowled over with love for this show three episodes in. Some boy took the TV for Prison Break last night and I felt like crying and spent SO MUCH TIME I could have spent doing productive things looking for download links/waiting for NBC to put the episode on their website. I have fallen so hard and fast for this show, and I am so so very glad I'm not the only one.

Chuck looks good! Everyone is talking about it! I should start downloading it. (I almost ended that with a ! just for consistency. What does that say about me?)

Plus, now that our conversations about broadband are more than DIAL UP, YOU ARE THE DEVIL I might be able to do just that :)

IT IS, ZOË, I FEEL YOU WOULD LIKE IT A LOT. And I am so very glad to hear that you are that much closer to getting broadband again, it's about time!

I KNOW. It's getting the seal of approval all over my flist!

(And yes, it is way, way past time!)

Also: I really love your new layout, the red is gorgeous!

(And again with the exclamation marks.)

The flist seal of approval is hard to resist! I'm almost tempted to try Gossip Girl because everyone else is watching, but it's only getting a half seal of approval, so I'm still undecided. WE WILL SEE.

And thank you! I totally just put it up tonight, and I have just, just finished working out the kinks.

Mmm, I've seen the first two episodes of Gossip Girl. I'm enjoying it but I'm not getting a ZOMG MUST WATCH from it just yet. It did get picked up for a full season though, so at least knowing the carpet isn't going to yanked out from under me is nice.

From: [identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com
Yeahhh, that seems to be the general reaction. If it doesn't get past the enjoyment stage I don't think I'll bother! It's ridiculously hard keeping up with the six shows I'm watching already. I'm weeks behind on the cable shows I have to download to see.

aww, that was lovely. i love chuck, but i've felt like i just can't talk about it like i can other shows, but you have now inspired me to try. and chuck & ellie are my favorite relationship of the show; family relationships are always my favorite things.

I'm so glad to hear that, you have such an interesting perspective on everything! And family relationships are absolutely one of my favorite things to watch on TV, but I really wasn't... struck by the way the Chuck/Ellie relationship was handled until this week, when suddenly they had the most poignant moments onscreen.

Yayyyy! Someone else on my flist loves Chuck too! That's exciting. Zachary Levi is such a cutie, I love his facial expressions too.

THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS. I want to look at it over and over again. You got all the best moments. I THINK THE BOB ROSS THING IS MY FAVE. That was just so ODD and hilarious and GREAT.

I cannot pick a favorite moment (Tango montages! But then Bob Ross! But then poignant moments! How did I fall for this show this quickly?) BUT YOU ARE WELCOME. Capping is exhausting but such a great way to absorb the episode, WHICH IS SO MUCH WHAT I WANTED TO DO.
