So guys, you should be watching this show.

Your lady's here. And if I'm not overstepping my bounds, looking good.
Three minutes into the episode, and I am already bowled over by Zachary Levi's expressions, AS PER USUAL. I love the intrigued look that transforms into a half smile, SO MUCH LOVE. It is the perfect sequence of expressions for "oh hey, the girl I kind of like a lot is here! I'm allowed to be happy, right? Even though she's only posing as my girlfriend?"

The music selection in this show is also really amazing and appropriate. I love the accordian playing as Zachary Levi's facial expressions continue to amaze me. I also love the little bounce-up thing she doessss, but I am way overanalyzing their body language now, SO I WILL STOP AND MOVE ON TO THE GOOD STUFF.

Hey.
Hey. Give me a kiss.
...I'm sorry, what?
We've been on three dates, we have to sell it.

I enjoyed Morgan SO MUCH MORE this week, honestly. I thought it would take some graaaaand character development (that wasn't going to happen) to make him more than Chuck's annoying friend, but he had moments! Trying to keep John Casey from supposedly cockblocking Chuck! Rallying the Nerd Herders! Other things I will probably remember later! However, John Casey > Morgan.

Class five whitewater rapids. Just the two of us, this weekend, near death experience, awesome.
I LOVE YOU, CAPTAIN AWESOME.

Chuck gets his first mission, and John Casey continues to be fantastic.
I endorse the title sequence, by the way!

Did someone say tango?
No, thank you, Captain Awesome, I'll look it up online. ...would you please put on... something, a robe, or... something?
Did a semester abroad in Buenos Aires. I spent many a night tangoing my way into senorita's pantalones.

I'm not sure I would look that happy about my boyfriend grabbing my brother's ass. HOWEVER, CAPTAIN AWESOME? Only continues to get more awesome.

I've been a spy all of five seconds and I've already got soy sauce on my shirt.

Beautiful painting.
What's that? Yeah, beautiful painting. Yeah. It definitely has a quality about it, very, I would say, very Bob Rossian in its' influence.
Who?
Bob Ross. Bob Ross, you know Bob Ross, the guy who used to paint on PBS? With the afro and the soothing... you have no idea what I'm talking about.

No no no no no, you're not getting off that easy. Why won't you talk to me?
It's, loo-- it's complicated, okay, just let it go.
Fine, you don't want to talk to me, I suggest you find someone to talk to.
This was absolutely one of my favorite scenes of this episode, and looking back, I can't quite... explain why? I really liked Ellie a lot this episode, whereas before she was just... there. Even a little irritating? But there's something about her facial expressions (it runs in the family!) in the way she reacts to Captain Awesome, and then there's this scene, which is so much more poignant than the other I-love-my-brother-and-I-want-him-to-have-a-good-life scenes. This scene says a lot about the relationship between these two, andddd, I don't know, it's really rather lovely. And of course Zachary Levi does such a great job of portraying the fact that he really does like this girl, but she's only his fake girlfriend and he so very much wishes he could tell Ellie that because he doesn't want to disappoint her, and boy is he ever in way over his head.
So some computers get fixed, some showdowns go down, and then we have these last two scenes:

I just don't want to create a false sense of excitement for a relationship that seems doomed.
Why is it doomed?
Because she's not into me.
Uh, trust me, I have seen the way that that girl looks at you and she is into you.

Really?
It's none of my business!
Okay, no, okay fine, what the hell, what uh, what do you want to ask me about Sarah?
Really?
You better hurry up, this offer will not last.
Okay: do you like her?
Yeah.

I just know what an incredible guy Charles Bartowski is, and sometimes, I'm not so sure he knows it.
How do you feel about a brother/sister hug situation right now?
I'm open to it.

Okay, sure. So today I helped take down a major international arms dealer, but, tomorrow? Tomorrow I still gotta go clock in at Buy More. I mean, what's the good of being a hero if nobody knows about it?
You know. And so do I.
You know, if we were really dating, this'd be the part where I'd be forced to kiss you good night.
Forced? Would it be so bad?
I'm sure I could suffer through it.
Me too.

HI JOHN CASEY HI. I love that we are left on a simultaneously hilarious and poignant note.
IN CONCLUSION: I love Zachary Levi and this show. And yeahhhh, I really don't care enough about Heroes to picspam you with any of that. There wasn't even any Nathan. GET BETTER NEXT WEEK, I really do want to care.

Date: 2007-10-10 03:32 am (UTC)Thank you! He for sure is so so many kinds of awesome. Did you see that Leno (I think?) segment where he went door-to-door, trying to make people watch Chuck? IT KIND OF MADE MY LIFE.

Also! Captain Awesome taught him the girl part! I love that little detail. And his old buddy from high school freaking out in his hotel room, hahahahaha.

Date: 2007-10-10 03:48 am (UTC)I may or may not have found a youtube video (with incredibly terrible sound, I advise muting) confirming this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=BUbPV8s3P20).
I... am kind of a lot in love with Captain Awesome. He is, indeed, very awesome. But the little details add so much! I loved the "spy humor" and the soy sauce and whitewater rafting and just. I like this show a lot.

Date: 2007-10-10 04:26 am (UTC)OH, EXACTLY. I expected to enjoy it and have it be a welcome distraction from life (I had the Pilot downloaded onto my desktop for weeks but I didn't care enough to open it until it the night it premiered on television), but I was completely convinced Pushing Daisies would be my only new show of shows this season. I certainly did not expect to be this bowled over with love for this show three episodes in. Some boy took the TV for Prison Break last night and I felt like crying and spent SO MUCH TIME I could have spent doing productive things looking for download links/waiting for NBC to put the episode on their website. I have fallen so hard and fast for this show, and I am so so very glad I'm not the only one.
