too lazy for currents

First of all, SNSD people! Should check out [livejournal.com profile] ingenieus! Because what the world really needs is a useless, chatty community about SNSD, right? I thought so.

I COULD NOT DEAL WITH THAT LITTLE SQUEAL MINKA(/THE OTHER CHARLIE'S ANGELS GIRLS? I thought they participated! Ugh you guys I am so excited for that stupid show I should not be allowed to be a person, how cute is this?) gave as she read Kyle's name, CANNOT BELIEVE HE WON!!! He clearly couldn't believe it either, that was sweet. I'm really sad about Connie though! I mean obviously Julianna did GREAT things this year but she's only going to win four more Emmys for this role, and ugh it's just abhorrent to me that Connie Britton doesn't have a single emmy for Tami Taylor. Happy for Jason Katims too.

CARING ABOUT OTHER PORTIONS OF THIS WAS A BIT MORE DIFFICULT THAN USUAL. Ugh it's weird how as much as the Emmys are TOTAL BULLSHIT a lot of the time, they matter? Because you do want that validation for the people you know to be wonderful. I don't know. I still kind of can't believe FNL was even nominated this year, but I also can't believe it wasn't nominated every single year it was on. Ugh how is it over, I still can't believe we're not going to get more.

The problem is that when Kyle actually won (I couldn't believe it either!), I actually had a tiny sliver of hope that FNL might actually win, too. STILL SO DISAPPOINTED FOR CONNIE. Obviously thrilled for Julianna, but how does Tami Taylor not have at least one Emmy?

I still don't believe it's over. I'm not sure I ever will.

That happened to me, too! I think it happened to everyone. Because with him + Katims it was like... holy god, THEY ACTUALLY WATCHED IT THIS YEAR. And yeah. Like... yeah. As much as I love Julianna and as much as I loved her performance this year, my heart sunk when that happened.

SO HAPPY FOR KYLE CHANDLER AND JASON KATIMS. I just... !!!

I was so sad for Connie too... our show deserves so much . ♥

our show deserves so much
BEST WAY TO PUT IT. I'm so glad they finally got a little of the recognition they've deserved, but it's a little bittersweet.

I have been actually crying about Friday Night Lights all day. Favourite drama show, nothing compares, etc etc. Why doesn't everyone have this show in their lives, IT MAKES ME SAD FOR MOST OF HUMANITY. I AM SO HAPPY FOR KYLE and for the first time I'm mad at Julianna (YOU'LL WIN EVERY YEAR BB BECAUSE YOU'RE AMAZING, this was Connie's year, her and Kyle and the show winning was my dream and it feels wrong only getting one part of it). Also Mad Men can just fuck right off permanently.

I was sobbing while watching this. The only thing I don't like about it is it doesn't focus on the later seasons enough but it was still perfect. Also WE SHOULD TRY TO REWATCH SOME EPS SOON! I just handed in two assignments worth 75% of my grade today, now I'm ready for some tv!

I almost wish this didn't have to be Connie's year, you know? Julianna did so much on TGW this year, maybe more than Connie, who knows? I mean, was season 5 her best season, or was it 3 or 4 or something? Maybe even 1 or 2. I think I'd pick 4 but it's been awhile since I watched everything. Or really we should have just given it to her for all five years, maybe. I don't know, I just looked it up and the previous four winners are Sally Field, Glenn Close, Glenn Close, and Kyra Sedgwick. I just... it's hard to believe that was her only chance.

I SAW THAT, UGHHHHHHH EMMA THIS SHOW IDEK. I think I need to buy the s5 dvds soon and do a picspam like I always do? And then maybe go back and do 1 and 2? I don't knooooow, how is it all over. AND GIRL CONGRAAAATS, that must feel super relieving.

I cried when Jason Katims won, I was so overjoyed. Also I can't believe the amount of talent this year in the drama categories - if I'm honest with myself I think the perfect combo for me would have been Jon Hamm for Best Actor and Connie for Best Actress, because it's a ridiculous idea that Don Draper will probably never have an Emmy and the Suitcase was an episode for the ages. Plus I don't watch The Good Wife, though with all the good things I hear I can't be disappointed (even though, yes, four more awards are clearly in Julianna's future, so, eh). But honestly I'm super happy about how it ended up - and now I get to frown at everyone saying Kyle didn't deserve it, because clearly these idiotic people didn't even watch a single episode of FNL. (I saw someone say he was a middling actor, and they had only seen Super 8. I MEAN, COME ON, IF YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING, SHUT YOUR MOUTH.)

Wow, sorry, this was super rambly haha. I have thoughts?!!

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I teared up for that one too! More emotionally affecting than Kyle's even, I think because we all went into it emotionally prepared for them to win absolutely nothing and then... there it was. Is Mad Men ending/over?! I didn't know! But seriously, he has been magnificent in this role. I'm happy he finally got some recognition for it.

[identity profile] myr-soleil.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
No no, Mad Men is getting at least another season, but this was Jon Hamm's chance because it was a Breaking Bad-less year. (I haven't watched it, but apparently everyone agrees that Bryan Cranston is unbeatable.) Ah well.

I've been thinking about FNL a lot today. Like a ridiculous amount. I'm happy for Julianna and that was well earned, but Tami Taylor deserves it too. I think, though, that Kyle is so humbled and gracious, that he is probably sharing it with all of them. Like, he was probably saying "we did this together. It's just as much yours as it is mine." In fact, I know he did. He is that kind of guy.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot of people seemed to be saying last night that the only reason he didn't mention Connie by name was that he was so shell-shocked -- neither of them expected to win at all. But it's true, as much as this is usually an individual award, there's something so collective about this win: his recognition sort of conflates as recognition for the incredible work everyone did on this series. I'm just so happy for them all, finally.

Checking out that snsd comm in 3, 2, 1-

I was so surprised that he won that it made it that much sweeter. I can't believe the show didn't get any recognition until this year, but I am glad it at least got something, even if it was just Kyle and Jason Katims. They won for everyone!! Julianna's was well deserved, that category is so incredibly tough, so many talented ladies. But no Parks :(

:3

Yeah, I think the fact that he was so surprised that he won made it sweeter too. But yeah, idk. It just shows the invalidity of the Emmys in general that stuff like that doesn't even make it into consideration (and crappy stuff continues to?). But at the same time it's so sweet when something really good DOES get recognized so idk. But yeah I can't believe they didn't get recognized at all! There's something really weirdly out-of-touch about the comedy section of the Emmys, but then I suppose that could be said of everything.
