I didn't love every performance from this particular round of Chocolate but I still think it's SO CUTE that Tiffany picked the songs for it, and that she specifically selected ~girl power~ English pop songs, lol I love her. I always wonder if she selected who performed what, too: specifically because this lineup is the two English speakers and also the three who (seem to be) the most interested in improving their English. I am probably wrong, it was probably just convenient to have Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Yoona do that old standby Beyonce dance (still so mad at the cameramen who filmed that though, I love Yoona but omg you pretty much see no one else in this filming of it, AND OF ALL TIMES TO FOCUS ON YOONA: a sexy dance, really?). Anyway whatever: this is so adorable and fun and you can never go wrong with a Spice Girls cover. Ever.

Tiffany - Poker Face
SHE SOUNDS SO GOOD HERE, I love her and her voice and the stupid emphatic gestures she always makes when she's singing and not dancing.

Everyone - Gee Remix
The behind-the-scenes intro to this is SO SAD: idk it just really highlights what gets sacrificed so they can all know three minutes of choreography that they'll probably never actually do again ;___;. I kind of can't believe they're so nice and giggly and sweet with the cameras on that little sleep, LIKE, under those circumstances I am pretty sure I would be a giant asshole. (Once, on a flight to Paris, my mom fell asleep on my shoulder and my sister was sleeping across our feet and I was so tired that I got mad that they were asleep when I wasn't/blamed them for being all up in my personal space and I spent like an hour and a half trying to "accidentally" wake them up so they'd be as miserable as I was, and when it didn't work I got even madder. I'M SUCH A PLEASANT PERSON TO BE AROUND.) But anyway I love them and the remix is really cute but ughhhhh poor things :(

Ugh I am such a stan but I hate, so much when people imply that none of SNSD/only Taeyeon can sing. Wish I had the power to loop this and acoustic Gee in their heads. I know they're not perfect all the time but THESE FIVE AND THEIR VOICES, ugh.

Ugh okay I get kind of emotional when any SNSD (or any young kpop girl if we're being honest) interacts with or covers Boa, just because even for the ones who are used to it ish it's SUCH A BIG DEAL. Like so many of them grew up idolizing her/wanting to be to her, and it's so cute how flustered a lot of them get (omg there's this one encore thing from August '10 where Yoonhye from Rainbow is like staring at Boa the whole time all "IS THIS REAL, AM I ACTUALLY ON STAGE WITH BOA RIGHT NOW HOW COOL IS MY LIFE"). Idk this applies especially to Tiffany for me but also just everyone. Anyway bb SNSD doing a Boa cover for the first time on stage (I'm pretty sure) is THE ADORABLEST THING TO ME, WHAT DO I USUALLY DO WITH MY HANDS?!

Jessica (+ Krystal) - Tik Tok
Lol I am the biggest nerd on the planet but I love the way this song reveals the slight edge in English pronunciation Jessica has on Krystal because she spent more of her youth in the US... you can hear it in the ths and the fs. Also I love this but sometimes it cracks me up to think about the Jungs: I mean of course they are proud parents but can you imagine your only two daughters up on a stage singing about being drunk all the time?! I'D FEEL A LITTLE WEIRD.

I hate watching these separately because they're just so fantastic as a sequence -- idk it's just a really well put together performance, and I LOVE the way they separated them out. Seohyun as the womanizer! Tiffany's lame dance moves! Taeyeon's intense performance face! Yoona and Yuri being lame! The way Sunny says "this shit is bananas"! Hyoyeonnnnnnn!

Also I never get sick of Genie perfs tbh, although I actually think this one is my favorite, for mysterious and unknown reasons. (Actually that's a lie though, I can't find my actual favorite but it was at this giant outdoor concert during the day that I always want to say was in China but that's possibly just because the video was labeled in Chinese I don't remember? ANYWAY IN IT SEOHYUN IS DISGUSTINGLY/ADORABLY LOUD, you can hear her over everyone and it's so cute I don't know what to do with myself, I missssss it internet bring it back to me!)

My favorite thing about this is the way it highlights the differences between these girls as performers: Seohyun is SUCH A ROBOT I LOVE HER, Yuri is a superhottie sex bomb, and Taeyeon is like... idk better than you would think at a dance-only perf but seriously why would they use her for a dance-only perf, STILL DON'T GET IT. Is it a Wooyoung thing?

Secretly I wish this was just a Taeyeon/Cuddlewolf Kyuhyun duet: don't know why SM persists in believing Donghae can sing, GOOD LORD. And I love Jessica but she is interloping on the perfect beautiful engrishy duet. 3:39 on though omg.

I JUST REALLY FUCKING LOVE THE DANCE INTRO TO THIS, IDK WHY. I mean I kind of do: I love Hyoyeon stepouts followed by all-the-dancers stepouts, and I like this intro musically and... choreographically (THE SNAPPING!) and Hyoyeon's little falter/squawk at :44 is so cute I don't know what to do with myself, and also for some reason I like to watch how the dancers hit the moves compared to the not-dancers from :52-1:00. (Specifically my favorite part of this is Yuri working it next to Sunny, who's just :Ding there because she knows that all she has to do is smile and no one will care that she's half-assing it, lol I love her.) Also Sooyoung looks especially hot here. Just saying.

LOL @ SM RECYCLING THIS MUSIC FOR THE ABOVE (and probably other stuff I don't know about, they're cheap like that?), but also I just really enjoy this. Boy/girl dances! And the way it transitions so smoothly into Genie.

My favorite thing about this (aside from everything) is how she is like, adorably timid/laughing at herself in the rehearsal fancam, but then for the actual thing there is none of that, just total commitment to badassery/the performance. (This particular video is a little out of sync though, eek.)
