elapsesThe gift certificate to the spa my baby sister got me for my last birthday was about to expire -- because uh, my next birthday is this weekend -- so I went and got a facial today and omg you guys, it was a MAGICAL EXPERIENCE. I want to live in the spa. I never thought I would like that kind of thing! But omg *____*

Can we talk about HOW GOOD this show is when it's playing with the concept of time travel rather than adhering to the regret-a-week rule?! Ack honestly the best thing about Kai is not Kai himself but the 2019 (?) stuff he drags in with them, I was only so into the idea of a romance last season but oh my goddddddd, when he said the thing about sleeping together? INSTANT FEELINGS, HELLO CROSS-TIME ROMANCE. (Although god time travel, how does that work now that she knows? HE HAS THE MEMORY OF IT HAPPENING SO IT MUST HAPPEN, but now she has pre-knowledge so she could keep it from happening, WHAT. A very wise woman once said "the future is the past, the past is the future, it all gives me a headache" and that is kind of how I feel right now.)
I really loved the way the first "day" played out -- I don't usually note Erin Karpluk's acting, but she was so good, omg the bit with her running past Irish dude seemed weirdly loaded to me. I really liked their friendship this week, actually -- but I have a feeling it's going to be Tim/Becky pt. 2 for me, where I want to enjoy their scenes but am weirdly tense because I REALLY DO NOT WANT ANY UST.

veils was like "I AM GETTING WEIRD VIBES FROM PASCALLE AND WAYNE" and a week later she was like "OH MY GOD THEY HOOKED UP", which is so hilariously gross, I cannot even, that when she told me I had to start watching again... I did. This show is like NOTHING ELSE, it is just so trashy, in the best possible way. I knew I was home like 5 minutes into the first episode I picked up, because omg their wedding outfits:
Omg, SO DELICIOUSLY TACKY. Look at Cheryl's leopard dress, I could not get enough of it. People in TV are not supposed to look like they bought their clothes on the we-can't-get-rid-of-it sale rack at Ross Dress for Less (or whatever the New Zealand equivalent is, idk). BUT THEY DOOOOO, and it's amazing. And then ten minutes later Loretta and Pascalle were like, having an actual food fight, and I just, omg, Outrageous Fortune, NEVER LEAVE ME.
But seriously, the best thing about this show is that most of the leads are either too stupid to live or basically evil (uh, in the best possible sense of that?), so you never have those moments where you question WHY THE CHARACTERS WOULD DO THAT, THEY ARE NOT THAT STUPID, because... they are. There is an endless fount of messiness for the Wests to find themselves in, because Loretta and Jethro are always going to be conniving, and Pascalle and Van are always going to be too dumb to exist, and everyone is always going to have friends/"business" associates who are either stupider than them or eviller than them.
BUT OH MY GOD THE STUFF WITH SHEREE WAS SO DRAMATIC, daaaaaaang, way to fuck up everyone's life, girlfriend. I kind of hope they find her but I kind of doubt they will, Pascalle cannot be rich forever. Also I have already forgotten Shree's brother's name, but LOL HIS ENTIRE LIFE, and how he fell ~deeply in love with Pascalle~ at the end there. He would just stand there eyehearting at her! WHEN HE HOOKED UP WITH HER FOR HER MONEY (I totally forgot he was even hooking up with Loretta until it got mentioned, it has been too long since I've seen this show, there's so much to keep straight) IN THE FIRST PLACE. And then he got dumped. What is his liiiiiiiife, he just wanted to marry his stupid darling rich blonde girlfriend :(
Things I also love: LORETTA'S BOYFRIEND THE PARK RANGER, and everyone glomping him, and how jealous he makes stupid Hayden, and omg the way he was like, shielding Jane during all the madness, I THOUGHT I WOULD TAKE HER TO THE PARK, because her family is the crazy. But the greatest thing he has lead to is Loretta's "all babies love animals because babies and animals are equally stupid" line, I honestly can't think about that without cracking up.
I LOVE SHOWS ABOUT WHITE TRASH AND PETTY CRIMINALS, who knew.
By the way on the offchance anyone was curious, the generally accepted popularity ranking of the girls in the last post is basically 7, 9 (I actually think 9 has more members in her fancafe, which I think it the easiest thing to go by because, you know, NUMBERS, but 7 is more known by the general public/basically considered the beauty standard of South Korea, so), 22, 0, 21, 11, 12, 24, 32. Obviously personality and talent (to some degree) figure into that whereas that poll was strictly looks, but I did think it was interesting how soundly Sooyoung won that when she is not even close to the favorite in her own demographic pool.
