Well you've no idea how fortuitous this chance encounter with your blog is. I too am too young to have gotten into star trek much but have always adored Voyager.
truly, it was my first foray into nerdom/fandom aha and i forgot about it. but i happened upon them on youtube and am now attempting to watch all episodes. to be honest i am finding it difficult to stay interested if B'Elanna, Tom or Harry aren't in episodes. preferably all together.
But almost everything you've mentioned about Voyager (what i've read anyway) is identical to how i see the show. freaky to say the least. anywhooooo keep it up, tres cute!
and i loved the episode first season where you find out that B'Elanna has a wicked crush on Chakotay very interesting.
