Oh I know, hello all of season 5? Josh was especially affected by Leo's death, but that's... Josh. That's how he reacts to loss. And it isn't that they didn't have a bond of some sort, because they absolutely did and that last bit of Noel is one of the best moments of the series (and that's saying something!) but you're so right in saying that it wasn't more important than an actual father and son.
