aaaaall the way

DANCE BREAK:

By my own rules I am not supposed to be Christmas-y until the day after Thanksgiving, BUT THEN GAP OUTDID THEMSELVES WITH THEIR 2008 ADS AND I HAD TO. HAD TO. (ALTHOUGH, okay, I'm also feeling oddly chatty and just felt like posting? HI!!) It is so many things I love about the holiday season: cute sweaters, dorky dancing, sooooongs, and glee. Also if you, like me, listened to this and thought "WHY DO I NOT HAVE AN AWESOME HIP HOPPY VERSION OF JINGLE BELLS ANYWHERE IN MY ITUNES???" there is a just plain Trey & Flo version, AND I WILL FIGURE OUT HOW TO RIP IT, SOMEHOW.

Tomorrow I am going to buy myself candles. Lots and lots of delicious smelling candles. Also sheet music. Except knowing my penchant for procrastination, I will still be saying this a week from now :(

P.S. FUN UNRELATED FACT: The Christmas classic "Baby, It's Cold Outside" originates from a crappy Esther Williams swimming movie from the 50s (I think it was the 50s?) that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HOLIDAYS AT ALL.

You can try http://flvto.com/ to get an mp3 of some mad hops. I know it'll work with youtube vids but not sure about the gap.com only ones.

The cut of them was different than Gap khakis usually are? I LOVE THEM (and I'm not really much of a pants person!), I wish they'd resurrect them so I could buy more :( And yeah, not just you. They mostly did a good job of avoiding singing parts for the actors, though?

It's uploading, I'll give you the link when it's done!

Where in Arizona do you go? I don't imagine the weather will be all that wintery.

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, sometimes you can get really lucky with khakis at the Gap. Yeah, it seems that way. Except for Rainn, who rooooooocked it.

Oh, yay, thank you!

We go to Tucson. It's not really the weather more than the people. Like, there are people who go every spring break, so I've made friends and my parents have made friends, and even if we don't know people, we recognize them, so it's comforting. But there are also people who go every Christmas/New Year's, so it will just be a different crowd. But I'm going abroad next semester, and Arizona is a tradition, so we kinda rearranged our schedule.

Jon and Hanna were my sister's favorites! I liked Rachel and Bradley.

I DID NOT KNOW STEPS, BUT THAT VIDEO IS WONDERFUL, so I think I will get to know Steps.

Yes! Was it the song they used in all the Chrismukkah episodes or was it just in "The Best Christmukkah Ever"? I don't think I've seen any of the other ones since they aired.

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
I liked Bradley, too! Remember when Hannah and Bradley were dating *~*behind the scenes*~*? I remember not being able to figure out if they were dating in real life or not, since it was a "reality" show. Lololol, younger self.

I liked, it was 5 people. And one of them was named Claire, so of course, I was all, "STEPS RULEZ!" Also worth a watch:

(Those are the only songs I still have of them, but I'm pretty sure they were all awesome.)

I think it was just "The Best Chrismukkah Ever." Was that the one where Marissa stole? Because I think it was that episode.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
Rainn was awesome, whoever decided on the gender reversal for that one deserves candy canes.

That sounds lovely! I haven't been to Tuscon since I was ridiculously small, but I really liked it then. And I forget: where are you studying abroad?

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Candy canes! PEPPERMINT BARK!

It's really beautiful in the spring. Not too hot, not too chilly. I don't think I ever made it "official" on here, actually (or maybe I did?), but I'm going to Stockholm! I'm very excited.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
AHAHAHA THE HAND GESTURES!! There will never be anything like British pop of the late 90s EVER AGAIN.

Yeah, that was the one where Marissa stole! God, Marissa. What a little drama queen.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL, THE CARTOON RENDERINGS. That reminds me of this:

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
OH MY GOD, IS THAT EDEN'S CRUSH? No lie, I was singing, "Get over yourself, goodbye (goodbye)" today. WOW. WOOOOOOOOOW.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think you did announce that, I would've remembered Sweden. That should be incredible!

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
IT IS!!! I don't suppose you liked Dream too? APPARENTLY WE HAVE ABSURDLY COMPATIBLE TASTE IN POP MUSIC.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
THANK YOU! Hopefully the ones I want have been posted to youtube.

[identity profile] thecolorbetween.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
I only remember one Dream song, whichever one was their most popular. "He Loves U Not," that was it! (Fact: I had to check on Wikipedia.) The coordinated pink outfits! Aaaaah. Did you hear that three of the members are now in their own group (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Phoenix#New_Group)? Without a doubt, I was most "obsessive" with O-Town. 98% of it was because my best friend was OBSESSED, but then, of my own accord, I, too, became really obsessed. You can see my head on one of their concert CDs. I went to TRL for them. Wow. I never realized what "Liquid Dreams" really meant until, like, three years ago (and, to be honest, I'm grateful for that).

I didn't know they'd formed a new group! I was going to "psh" disinterestedly because at some point they made a second album and it was TERRIBLE, sexed up pop music that pretty much lacked any melody at all, but apparently the ~new group~ is all the girls I liked and NO HOLLY (I swear to god, part of the reason I listened to groups more than singers back then is because I enjoyed watching the same three music videos over and over again and deciding which ones I "liked" and which ones I thought were lame). HMMMM. HMM.

I loved O-Town too! I was too defiant to like *NSync or Backstreet Boys with the same fervor as everyone else, so I picked up O-Town and 98 Degrees instead.

I KEEP FORGETTING: here's Janelle Monae (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=20020beef39f3c5fc74064dd4c81b78a3858770053f42b8a)!

I was never into them enough to remember their names. I think someone posted a song of Lady Phoenix on [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt a couple months ago, and it wasn't too bad. They have good voices, it just wasn't really my style. Hahahaha at you and music videos. I love it.

I was never really into 98 Degrees, but one time during the Thanksgiving Day Parade, one of them waved to me (I think it was Drew?) or looked right at me (mind you, I was in a building, so they probably weren't even looking at me), and I was like, *~*"Oh my god, I looooove him, I want to date him, he is perfect, he likes me, he waved at me, he knows who I am!!"*~* Yep.

Thank you, again! :-)

serenity by jan candles, i hope!

Does that mean all that business about staying for another drink and basically forcing the girl to stay and do naughty things because it's "cold outside" had none of the holiday cheer to make up for its rapist wit?

Hahahahha I still LOOVE that song thx to Zooey and Will in Elf. IT WILL ALWAYS BE A XMAS SONG IN MY HEART!

[identity profile] loveshaked.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Rainn! Jason! So awesome :D

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
HOW COULD I RESIST THE SWEET SMELL OF BLUE JEANS?

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
NOPE! It is pure, unadulterated, date rapey charm.

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
OH MAN, I KNOW!

[identity profile] elapses.livejournal.com 2008-11-18 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I just looked Lady Phoenix up on youtube, and there isn't much but ICK, EMBARRASSMENT SQUICK. The 12-year-old inside me is sad :(

Haaaaaahaha that is the ultimate boy band story. I WOULD'VE DIED.

No problem!

HOW MUCH DO I LOVE THAT THIS WORLD IS COMING TO A PLACE WHERE RAINN WILSON GETS TO SHARE A STAGE WITH TREY SONGZ AND FLO RIDA. NERDS AND (SEMI?) RAPPERS COMING TOGETHER, PEOPLE. I LOVE IT.

And the Dixie Chicks! Nice, Gap! Maybe you could put in a good word for them on, I don't know, every country station in the entire country.
