I agree with almost everything you wrote here. (I also liked Peet and Xzibit... but I didn't see the point, or what they were supposed to be doing.) I think it's gonna be a while before I'm able to put it into words for myself, though. The movie was a little too much of a fan movie, which means I liked it, but am not unapologetically proud of it, and just being disappointed on that level makes me disappointed that I'm disappointed. So. I don't like being one of those fans who relies on fic and DD-GA press to get through the ache, but pretty sure that's what the next couple days are looking like!
