a black woman who's a doctor will have had to work much harder to get there than a white man (or possibly even a black man), and the way she conducts herself will be informed by that. That is exactly what I was getting at! And yeah I actually haven't seen Grey's so I have no idea how they actually did it/fleshed out the characters, I just know the casting process for the leads (and possibly the guests/everyone actually I have no idea) is colorblind.
