draft beer ★ not people

Last year I did a picspam of Friday Night Lights season three both in preparation for season four and to entice everyone who had stopped watching to catch back up. I have since given up on that quest, if you stopped watching you stopped watching and there is nothing I can do about that except say that I am really sorry about your life, because I am. But I actually loved making that, which is weird because usually the idea of picspams without words is abhorrent to me. Finding caps for an entire season at once gives me a chance to revisit the season without fully commiting to a rewatch, I guess? So I have it all in mind once again once I watch the new stuff. Anyway a couple of months ago I decided I'd do another one for season 4, but... ended up putting it off. Naturally. Let's pretend it is still a couple of hours ago though and this is just under the wire than just a little bit too late to beat season 5 (whatever, most of us won't watch it until tomorrow anyway). Anyway this is (obviously) really image heavy, steer cleer if your modem is lily-livered.


I weirdly love the graininess of this show, I don't know. Also newfound respect for those of you who throw out picspams with any kind of regularly, I always forget how effing tedious it is.






























I lied though, two things:
- I was so ambivalent on both Jess/Landry and Jess/Vince for most of the season -- but oh my goooooood, did something ever happen in those last three episodes, SUDDENLY I HAD REALLY INTENSE JESS/VINCE FEELINGS. I don't know that I can explain it because I still don't know what happened there, but those scenes surrounding his friend's funeral -- jeeeeesus christ did that ever make Jess/Landry look shallow in comparison. I love that that was acknowledged and she went straight to Landry and broke up with him though: JESS IS SUCH A STRAIGHT-TALKER, god damn she's great.
- It's so much less stressful to watch Tim/Becky scenes when you know that he is going to knock her down every time, oh my god I LOVE THAT HE INHERITS A BABY SISTER FOR HIMSELF. And of course she's in love with him, she's 16 (or whatever, you know handwavey FNL ages) and he's Tim Riggins, but I love that he has the maturity to say no over and over again. Because he totally loves her, but in this entirely unromantic way. IT IS THE MOST DELIGHTFUL THING.

THING OF BEAUTY. I love how grainy FNL is too. And that it usually has such a warm, yellow quality to the lighting. And those random soft focused moments and the fuck yeah lens flares and EVERYTHING. THIS SHOW.

Tim Riggins: Big Brother is one of my faaaavortie things about FNL.

omg even looking at this picspam, you can see how poignant the show is. :( to all the caps of everyone crying. I'm not sure what's going on but now I feel sad looking at it. I like how organic your picspam is, PRETTY.

OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING. I just want to take every cap of Julie and put them in a box and label it 'MY HEART,' I love love love that girl. SO WONDERFUL.

Completely agreed on both of your points, btw, I didn't like Jess/Landry much in the first place but I was like whatever until those last few episodes, wow.

I like the grainy feel of FNL. It looks different than any other show because it IS different.

I'm a bad fan. I totally forgot it was coming back until yesterday. I wanted to rewatch all of S4 before S5 started, and I didn't have time. ALAS.

I'm just going to sit here and stare at this for a while. *sigh*

Ahhh dude, oh my god, so many feelings just LOOKING at this. I swear, the things this show does to my emotions, it is not even funny. Also, this is supremeeeely gorgeous, I agree that the graininess of the shot actually adds something where in most shows it would detract. And Jess/Vince FOREVER, the scenes where all they could do was sit and cry and cling to each other? My heart, breaking. Going into this season I had worried that I wouldn't ~connect~ with the new characters like I did the original Panthers, but in true FNL style, they hooked me. I am literally counting the minutes until I can come home tonight and watch the premiere.

YUP, TOTALLY TEARED UP SCROLLING THROUGH THIS. It's so gorgeous and you chose such awesome caps. I love the graininess, too, and how the cameras always lingers on random moments, and the extreme close-ups, and basically everything about this show.

WORD ON JESS/VINCE FEELINGS EXPLOSION IN THE END, THERE. I was so ambivalent about that triangle and then it was like I got hit in the face with a frying pan full of emotions. I really love her character. (God, I'm continually impressed by how they brought in a whole new crop of characters and weaved them into the cast so that I ended up loving them all. YES, EVEN YOU, BECKY.)

Oh my goodness, this picspam is so freaking gorgeous, it's almost unreal. :) The coloring in your picspam is so simple and gorgeous. I really loved this season, it was nothing but great writing and fantastic acting. I will always be in awe of this series! Love the introduction of the new characters and the setting of Easy Dillon, which is such a great risk the writers took. And of course, they managed to pull it off so well.

AND YES I LOVED WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT JESS/VINCE. I didn't like them initially either, but they definitely grew on me. I'm shipping it like crazy already. Hell yes to Tim/Becky as well. It's so nice to see him growing up and taking care of her. (So glad they didn't take the romantic route with this.)

ALL IN ALL, I LOVE THIS FREAKING POST. YOU WIN AT LIFE SO HARD.

Wow, this is really pretty. I really love the cap of Becky engulfed in Luke's arms, how she's all tiny and he seems so comfy in his sweatshirt. (I have kind of a crush on Luke, in case you can't tell.) You really picked meaningful caps - wow, Tami sitting on the doorstep waiting for Eric... break my heart why don't you. Also for some reason Becky seems prettier here than in the show, not sure what that's about.

THIS! At first I was kinda meh about it- but like you those episodes toward the end of the season changed my mind so much! I really loved season 4- more than I thought actually. I'm just kinda sad that season 5 is the end :( I'm going to miss these characters so much!

Britta directed me here and OH MY GOD. THANK YOU FOR THIS. I LOVE ALL OF IT! Becky is one of my favorites - she's like, tied with Luke, probably, in terms of last season - and it seems like EVERYONE hates her (either that or they are indifferent), but I love what you said about her thing with Tim! THAT'S EXACTLY IT! It's so great. Also, I am really in love with the top left cap here (http://pics.livejournal.com/elapses/pic/0017gk97). I can't even handle that scene!
