In a lot of ways a picspam is a way of removing sound, seeing a scene without the sounds behind it.

Also, I really enjoyed this post even if I have never watched the show before. I agree, it's such a nice post. I think it's really interesting that she directed/wrote the episode. I don't think I've ever heard of an actor doing both for a show before.
